WRT 1900 AC - wired connection 10x slower than without the router - FIXED!!

$

I have a gigabit connection, without going through the router, I get 920mb+ on downloads, but with the router plugged in, I get 90ish mb downloads.

I've had a different gigabit connection before and everything worked fine, but recently I moved and haven't plugged in the router in the past 8 months, now I finally moved into a house, got a new ISP - cox communication, and took the router out of the box and it is acting up.

Read through all kinds of posts about finding and setting the router's MTU, and setting MP, etc, and still no luck, restarted the router a bunch of times, IPV6 is unchecked.

Please let me know how I can fix it.

thank you!!

EDIT: it turns out to be a faulty ethernet cable, although it marked cat 5e, somehow it caused the internet to be slow.  Swapped the cable and now everything is good.  I'm not sure how to delete this post because it could mislead others.  moderators, please delete this post, thank you.

Hi Bro!

Linksys WRT1900ACS v2 Brick.

When you turn on the power LED lights on and stand still. Cannot hard reset.

Only turn on the Ethernet led if I have a cable connected.
It also does not respond to the ping of 192.168.1.1 or any other command.
I have the TTL serial cable, I connect it, I see the boot but I do not see command line to put orders

I only get this message:

Hi All,

So i purchased WRT3200ACM few months back as a second router and it reaches 250mbps speed which is my internet speed plan no issues. last Friday i decided to upgrade my internet speed to 600mbps. now my issue is that when using 5ghz wifi it does not give atleast 500mbps but when wired it reaches 700mbps. i tried hardware reset and software reset no luck. i also tried adding value to media prioritization 0 or 614400 still not getting the speed plan. i restart it multiple times still not giving me the correct speed. now i'm not sure what to do, is this a hardware issue? can i have this replaced or fixed?

EA9500 v1.1 stuck in boot loop where it turns off and back on once every minute.

My EA9500 v1.1 is stuck in boot loop where it turns off and back on once every minute. The wifi does not turn on and the hardwire eithernet port does not turn on. Has anyone else found a solution for this problem, or is it a hardware failure? Factory resetting and hard resetting does not work. The power supply is brand new. The router stopped working today.

someone else has asked this question here:

https://community.linksys.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/EA9500-Stuck-in-Reboot/td-p/1162377

Other users say that it is not fixable. My router is outside of the amazon 30day return window.

Hi,

I'd like to ask the question in the subject. For example, can I set up a schedule for the router to block https://facebook.com from 9am - 12am and then 1pm - 3pm? Can you please tell me which ones are they? I'm interested in the consumer products. Thank you.

Best,

Range of signal for EA7450

$

I recently had to replace my old router WRT1200AC. I chose the EA7450 Mesh based upon the specs.

My old router would extend signal to an extender in my barn approx 100 yards in direct line of site. The new router signal only extends to about 50 yards in direct line of site.

What is the range supposed to be for the EA7450? Do I need a deifferent model router or do I need to change some setting on the router?

Cannot connect to USB storage on Mac, no issues on Windows. WRT3200

Very strange, I can connect to the external USB storage on my WRT320 with my new Macbook pro. Both are on the same network, In Finder-->Go-->Connect to Server I type my server IP, it connects and asks for my username and PW. I enter it correctly only to be greeted with a wiggling dialog box that means it didnt connect. Same un/pw on my pc works just fine.

If I disconnect from the network and try again I am not asked for a username/password so I know its kinda sorta working.

Linksys AX1500 MAX-Stream Mesh WiFi 6 Router (MR7310)

Soooo, I just ordered and received the above router and now I'm wondering if the fact that I can find zero information about it might be a sign that I should simply return it.   I received it yesterday afternoon and was replacing an older Linksys router so I was already familiar with the app......I had to go thru set up a number of times, it kept failing but then when I force closed the app and reopened the new router was in there and I proceeded to try and connect all of my smart home devices (and now I question my excitement of automating my home).  First of all, my old router would show both my 2g and 5g network so it was pretty easy to connect the many lights, cameras etc. that only work with 2g.  My guess was that this somehow automatically chooses which network to connect to when setting something up and after hours of cursing and stomping around my house I was able to connect many of my devices to my guest network.   After reading message boards I thought maybe I should go into my router settings and set the two up separately but when I get the warning box I chicken out. Aside from that issue, this seems much slower and very laggy compared to my old router.  Frankly, I know nothing about mesh or wifi 6 and appears on Amazon the reviews I read apply to any number of the 5 routers you can pick from,.  I normally feel like I'm fairly tech savvy but not when it comes to this and since I can't find anything on the community boards or  in general when I google I'm wondering if I picked the worst of their options and should just return it and go back to my old router.  Frankly, the only concern with the old router was that after IOS 14 my wifi kept dropping and I had a warning about weak security.   I would appreciate any input. Thx

wrt1900ac VPN setup and use help

I've set up my WRT1900AC with VPN, downloaded the .ovpn file and imported it in an OPENVPN connect client but it still appears something is wrong.  When I run the OPENVPN connect I'm expecting to see the private IP listed in the OPENVPN connect client shown but I'm showing the IP of the internet provider I'm using instead.  I've done quite a few searches to see what the problem is, no luck so far in different suggestions that I've tried.

Question: once I set up VPN on the router should I open a port to the default port (1194) or is that necessary?

Also, I'm using a dynamic dns address for my client to point to. Is that ok to do or do I need a static IP?

Any tips or things I should look into is appreciated.

PS, this is the first time I've actually tried to use VPN so I'm a novice but I'm certain I followed any/all documentation I could find regarding the router's vpn instrucitons and OPENVPN client use, but wouldn't mind if someone pointed something out I could have missed.

E2500v3 bad flash

Hi

I tried to flash my Linksys E2500v3 and we had a temporary power outage. Now it turns on power LED blinks twice and when I can't ping 192.168.1.1 with or without static IP.

I'd flash it but TFTP can't connect to it and I can't even the default gateway in ipconfig. I did all the reset button related stuff but nothing happened.

What am I missing here?

WRT1900AC 2.4ghz super slow speeds

$

This is an issue that started within the last week or so.  Speed from the 2.4Ghz band of my WRT1900AC is miserably slow to the point I can't do much with it.  The speed ranges from .2mbit to 3 mbit.  Occationally I'll hit 20mbit, but then when I check 10 minutles later, it's back in the 1.3mbit range

Things I tried:

-Router/modem power cycle

-Factory reset

-Firmware downgrade

-Firmware upgrade with a fresh copy of the firmware

-Cycled through every channel with no major differences

-Cycled through all wireless modes with no differences

5ghz works just fine, and I used multiple devices to test these speeds.  I really don't know what to do anymore besides buy a new router.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Other tidbits:

-I live in the suburbs.  Any wireless activity around me is at a minimum.

-I can only detect 4 other wireless ap within range of my house.

-Router is in an open area, no obstructions, and tests were run within 10-15 feet from router.

-I have 12 wireless devices connected to the router, with only maybe 6 of them actually active during tests.

-Router is a WRT1900AC Ver 1

Would love ANY help someone can provide with this.

WRT3200ACM Guest Access

I setup the router and all is fine.  however i wanted to enable the guest network.  this router is on a network with a domain and DHCP is being handled by the server so i disabled DHCP on the linksys wrt 3200.  Now when i try connecting to the guest network with my Android phone it sits at obtaining IP address.  If i enable DHCP on the linksys i can connect and my phone asks for the guest password and I'm on.  Is this by design?

Startet receiving this error message from my FireTV devices. Can stream fine from YoutubeTV, Hulu anf Netflix in 4K.

Anyone aware of setting on Lynksys related to this issue? Like the MTU size needing to be manually set for twitter to auto-load media.

BTW - the MTU setting is manually set to 1500, and now my android phones are also reverting back to having trouble loading media while on wifi. Which brought me here to see if anyone else is experiecing issues.

Thanks in advance!

Model: WRT1900AC.

WRT3200ACM sudden drop in 2.4ghz but fine on 5ghz

$

Similar to other threads in this forum this is an issue that started suddenly within the last couple of weeks or so.

Speed from the 2.4Ghz band is slow, about 7-8 Mbit, I'm on VM 100mbit.

On 5ghz I am getting 80-90mbit in the morning and around 110mbit out of office hours. Measured in various areas of the flat.

No changes in the router position, furniture or anything else.

Things I tried:

-Router/modem power cycle

-Factory reset

-Firmware downgrade

-Firmware upgrade with a fresh copy of the firmware

-Cycled through every channel with no major differences

-Cycled through all wireless modes with no differences

The number of wireless routers around hasn't changed, plus I am on a channel that is not too crowded.

I have 6 devices connected, 3 on 5ghz and 3 on 2.4ghz.

I am on the latest firmware.

Again, no change occurred from my side whatsoever, this started occurring on its own.
