Adding To The LIst Of Problems With Internet Explolrer 11 And Another Browser

$

I've b1 of the EA6500 router and like the othe posts I can't use IE 11.  The "solution" is to use either Chrome or Firefox but not my Chrome has stopped working.  All I get now is the LInksys Blue background.  When I first see the site it looks like it's trying but then gives me a blue page.  I've included screen prints of what I see when I go to Linksys Smart Wi-Fi page and below that is the version number.  I have deleted my browser history, cache, saved form data, etc. but the result is still the same.  And it doesn't matter if I use the router IP address or the Smartsys Wi-Fi link.

So right now the only broweser that will let me do router administration is Firefox but something tells me it too will have problems eventually.

the problem I'm having isn't with the router, it is with the company.  People have tried to blame Micrtosoft in these posts for the problem but it's not their problem.  The real kicker is that these Smart Wi-Fi routers are not old. nor are they cheap.  LInksys announced this line at CES 2012, then again in April, and the last one announced for thie "initial" line-up of new routers  was the EA6500 (the EA6500 was anounced in June 2012).

I've been mostly happy with LInksys reouters but if this is the way they are going to conduct business, then maybe I need to make certain adjustments with the networking products we purchase.

To put it bluntly...this situation is unacceptable.

RV110W can not support the 100m bandwidth

I have a Cisco router, the model is RV110W. This router is very good quality and very stable.
But,I found the problem. My ISP provider gave me broadband is 100m. But bandwidth is only 50m after connecting this router.
I have two questions, as follows:
1, the router can not support the bandwidth of 100m?
2, if the router supports 100m bandwidth, how should I set it up.

EA6900 drops 2.4 GHz wifi every other day

Hey,

my EA6900 (firmware version 1.1.42.158863) drops the 2.4 GHz network every other day or so. At that point, all connected devices lose the network connection and cannot connect again until I manually reset the router. This is a big pain in the **bleep**.

Cisco Linksys EA3500 help needed please....

$

I have an EA3500, which is functioning perfectly fine, as I am typing this using it.

A few weeks ago I had to format my hard drive on my Windows 7 (64) laptop.

Since doing the format, only certain connections have been very problematic. Mainly my wife and kids iPads.

My laptop and Android phones have no problem automatically connecting to the router. The router still retains my user name and password.

I downloaded the proper software from Linksys for the EA3500, but it can not connect to the router. I'm assuming because it is already internally programmed from the initial setup. But I have unplugged and reset the router several times via the reset button, and tried the blue re-connect button after several power down attempts.

The Apple products can only connect to the "guest" access, but can not connect to the main network. This is a real pain in the butt having to enter the password and be a guest on my own router several times a day for my wife and kids.

When I go into the settings, the regular USERNAME always comes up along with Guest...When I enter the correct password, it keeps asking for a password.

This does not happen on this PC or my android devices.

But, I really want to be able to wipe out the routers internal programming so I can log in through the PC to add devices etc.

Can anyone give me any help on exactly how to do this?

Linksys wanted $39.99 for customer support on a router that I bought 6 months ago for $45 at Walmart....LOL

I would just as soon buy a new one. It works perfectly fine, I just need to access the Cisco software and have my computer communicate with the router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Steve

Issue with WRT1900AC - Cannot Connect to Configure

$

Just bought the WRT1900AC today.

Plugged it into my cable modem and turned it on.

I connect to the WiFi as per instructions to the "Lynksys12283" wifi network with the passcode, not the PIN. (tried the PIN too) and run my Firefox browser.

I do get an IP Address (192.168.1.199 on wireless) and it says I am connected to both the LAN and the internet.

1.  No access to the internal LAN or the internet.

2.  Cannot connect to linksyssmartwifi.com as per instructions

3.  Cannot connect to http://192.168.1.1 after I plug my ethernet port into the router.  My ethernet gets assigned 192.168.1.153.

I have done the factory reset twice.  Still the same issue.  I cannot connect to the router to configure it.

Wondering if I'm missing something?

Another question.

This linksyssmartwifi.com.  What is that?  It looks like I configure my router thru the cloud?  Is that wise?  I'd rather not have my router connected to some 3rd party, monitoring my router 24/7.

Thanks.

Stan.

EA6900 Smart WiFi how to change Connectivity Internet optional Domain Name so it's blank?

$

Hi:

I hope someone can help with this. About 15 years ago, I had the WRTG54 or something, as my router at my old home which at that time was configured with the Domain name of:

Domain name:hsd1.ma.comcast.net
Since then, I have moved and have had three Linksys routers as well, since. However, the last two, the EA 2700, which was the totally wrong router for the house I now live in, also had the smart wi-fi set-up and that same optional DNS name showed up. However, as I state below, it was a "piece of cake to install". Well, I just put in my EA6900, made a mistake, I guess, going with the Smart WiFi set-up as I want the old web-based utility in order to get rid of that old, incorrect DNS name. I cannot run my wireless network utilitie's "DNS" ping as it is the wrong DNS name in the router. I tried to get rid of it by going into "Static", but when I deleted out the address and just put in the DNS correct numbers, I couldn't get it to save, I cannot have a static route set-up-like I had to have on the old WRT one at my old house, but that old router seems to be "stalking me" with the DNS name-despite three other routers since as well as never having had that router in the house I moved to in 2008. I hope this is making some sense as I don't know how to explain it better, but I needed that Domain name then, and now, I need it gone! I cannot fathom how it is still showing up after three other routers and a house move. It causes all kinds of issues. I really do not want to have to go back to reset, but I hate how this router's set-up was compared to the EA2700-except for the domain name thing, it was so easy to set-up my own network names and passwords, I didn't mind that smart WiFi. So, when I put in the better EA6900, I wanted to keep it all the same network names and passwords and it wouldn't let me do it-instead I have a network named Linksys, bunch of numbers and a password that's impossible to remember. Also, in the view of network neighborhood, the router appears on the top(icon) then there's a "switch icon" and then, a computer icon that is the Linksys Router-right click that one and it takes you to the URL, but not the top one. Off to the side are the other computers connected and occasionally on the bottom, my printer appears. It maybe a great router and when I bought it, I was assured by Linksys, I could set it up over the old one, keeping my network names, and passwords. Well, that went bust, so to speak. I had to keep what Linksys wanted it's name to be and could not change the password-just the guest, but it still has the Linksys name- only guest, and the 5GHZ network, which I can't do on the non-guest network!. As you know, this router didn't come with an installation disc and it's not been a real simple integration to boot. Also, we are a total wireless household as I'm in the process of building the computer that will be the only Ethernet connected device in the house, but that's going to be a couple of months. However, even when I tried to connect the laptop with Ethernet, I still couldn't get at the setting I need to change. I really need any help someone could give and then, I've got this extender I bought for the EA2700 that never worked, but if I can get this new one setup, I'll try and get that working too. Thanks so much.

Linksys WRT54GS Help- Bricked itself?

$

Hello community,

I recently inherited a Linksys WRT54GS router my buddy didn't need anymore. I kept it in storage for about 6 months because I didn't really need it, but yesterday I found it lying around, and decided to go ahead and plug it in, to see if I could use it as a switch to plug my computer, Xbox, and PS3 into it. So, I plug it into the wall... And it seems dead. All the lights on the front panel were off. On a whim, I decided to plug it into my computer, wired, and test for pings. I kept getting the error "Network unreachable", and the router gave off no network. However, the light on the front corresponding to the back port numbers 1-4 lit up when I plugged in my computer to each port. It does not do anything else though, even after a 30-30-30 reset. What steps do I take now?

Linksys EA6900 USB Drive

I have a home network with 4 computers all running windows 7.  I have a 1 Tb drive connected to the USB 2.0 port.  Three of the four computers can consistently see/access the drive while the fourth cannot.  It doesn't matter whether I use the USB 3.0 or 2.0 port.  Actually, the connection is much less reliable using the 3.0 port - drive becomes invisible from time to time on these 3 computers.  Why can't the fourth computer (windows 7 32-bit) ever see/access this drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

EA3500 Smart Wi Fi - How to disable IPV6 to address Parental Control Issue

Hi

I've been reading that parental controls does not work with IPV6.

I would like to disable IPV6.

How would I do that?

P.S.: I noticed responses for EA4500 that there is a check box to disable the IPV6.  Very straight forward but my interface

does not have the same layout of the GUI.

Thanks

e2500 bricked

I managed to brick my e2500 with bad firmware.

I'm trying to follow the instructions for recovering with tftp.

Did a 30/30/30 reset.  Then...

* power off

* push reset (and continue holding)

* turn it on

* release reset

* e2500 all lights up and responds to 3 pings with TTL=100

* During those 3 seconds I start the tftp, which says succeeds

* the power light goes blinky, but e2500 remains pingable.  No http, no telnet, though.

* reboot

* solid light, responds to three pings, then goes silent.

Through all of this the switch port (#1) flickers from traffic.

What else can I do?

Whenever I try to connect to the router settings using 192.168.1.1, I get an HTTP 400 bad request. This issue started today.

I did connect for the last time to the settings yesterday as I was trying to add a printer to my network.

Besides I also noticed that my laptop does not see my network but see all others. Same thing for my i-phone. not sure why.

Thanks for you thoughts.

Port Forwarding on WRT54GL not working

Thanks in advance, trying to setup port forward on my linksys WRT54GL to allow Remote Desktop from outside to a desktop (static private IP).

I have a netgear modem setup in bridge mode (so firewall is disabled on modem), and the Linksys WRT54GL firewall enabled, with "filter internet NAT redirectin" unchecked.

Also, i have port forward rule setup in Apps & Gaming, to forward TCP 3389 to the static IP (private) of my desktop.

I ensure desktop firewall is not blocking RDP traffic, and I can RDP to the desktop from a laptop on the WLAN.

But, from the outside world, I cannot RDP using my current ISP IP (dynamic).  times out.  I'm sure i have the correct IP from my ISP at this time.

THoughts?  I can submit screenshots if needed

EA6500 won't port forward

I'm trying to port forward my router. Specifically UDP ports 3960 and 3962. I've set a static IP as 192.168.1.105   Running ipconfig in command prompts shows that as my IP address, and looking in the router control panel at the devices connected also shows that as my IP address on the network. However, when I go to open the ports and type in the IP address it says "invalid IP". This has been an on-going issue for a long time now. And not just with these ports, but with any ports. I don't understand why it's telling me my IP is invalid when everywhere I go to check it, it shows it's correct. Can anyone shed some light on it for me?
