Guest Network login issues with EA6300 (Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router AC1200)

I have a friend who runs a Bed and Breakfast, and she's having issues with guests being able to connect to the Guest network.  She bought this router at the recommendation of Best Buy's Geek Squad, after she had some issues with her previous model.

Everything is set up properly, the router seems to operate fine, especially with the normal network.  The guest network can be seen, with a decent amount of signal strength, but when people try and connect to the network, and try to use it, they're never prompted for the guest login screen.

I've been able to verify that it does indeed work - I helped set it up, but apparently there are several people using Android phones and tablets, and iPads that do not receive a prompt to enter the guest password and continue on.

Are there any manual addresses that can be input into a browser in order to access the guest login web screen?

OR better yet... is there a way to assign the password to the guest SSID, much like a normal wireless access point, rather than allowing guests to connect to a password-promptless guest SSID and have to try and finagle the guest password screen to pop up?

This is very frustrating, for both my friend who runs a business and myself who supports this.  Is the router faulty?  Is there a new firmware??  Any help would be appreciated.

EA2700 losing synch

Hello, I have a network set up with an EA2700 and the system basically works great. The only issue I have is my wireless adapter is constantly losing synch and getting kicked off when using wireless "N" only. At first I though it was the wireless card I bought so I started using wireless "G" and had no problems at all. I have since bought a new laptop with wireless "N" built in and I'm having the same problem again. If I reset the wireless adapter, I get right back on but I keep getting knocked off. Can you tell me why.

I was using Windows 7 before and I am now using Windows 8.1. Unfortunately I don't have the option to use wireless "G" on this computer.

EA4500 disconnects.

Happens only at night.  I've 13 devices connected to it.  4 wired, 9 wirelessly.  The wireless items will all simutaneously disconnect and I need to either reboot the PC or manually restart the wireless (android, IOS)

This never seems to happen during the day and it's pretty much every evening.

Other than changing the wireless chanel to 4 (to avoid other local signals) and changing the default IP to ".0.1"  it's relatively vanilla.

The BIOS is current and all the devices are up to date on their drivers.

Generally it happens only once per night.

Any ideas?

WRT1900AC - Sudden Disconnects

Hi guys,

I just purchased the WRT1900AC two days ago, replacing a Netgear N750 router and I absolutely love the new gear.  I understand the 1900AC is a very new Linksys release but I'm beginning to get concerned about its current stability.

It was running solid but about 24 hrs after I first set it up but last night as I was sitting next to it, I noticed that it rebooted itself for no reason.  I already have the newest firmware installed so there's no reason for it to just bounce like that; other than throwing an error and forcing itself to do a power-cycle.  Then an hour after it rebooted, the 2.4 GHz wireless signal and indicator light suddenly shut off on it's own.  I had to reboot the router via the Smart Wi-Fi interface to get that working again.

This all happened at about 7pm last night but the unit has been stable since with no other issues.  I understand Liniksys/Belkin are working on ironing out bugs but hopefully these two issues are on their fix list.  I really hope they release another firmware update soon to clear these issues up.

Anyone else have these two random things happen on their WRT1900AC?

WRT 1900 AC speed degraded and connectivity inconsistent

Got a strange one here.

Set Up and functionality seems to be correct (all features work and there are no errors or missing devices).

What I'm experiencing:

1.  slooooooow contection.   My plan provides for 25 down and 10 up, but what I'm actually getting is 8-9 down and 5-6 up.  two different speed test sites besides the built into the router speed monitor.

2.  the slow connection does not happen directly out of the modem, or through another wireless router - I believe this eliminates the modem as an issue.

3.  two firmware versions available, the same behavior from both versions.

Pretty much what I paid for speeds when i connect a laptop directly to the modem, but connected to the back of the router either by CAT or over wireless it's pig slow and connectivity flaps (hugely frustrating when trying to stream a movie or work from home).

Thought it might be Comcast initially, had their tech come out and he replaced the hardware on both ends of the line and whatever secret sauce activity stuff back at their provision point.  End of it is, fast and consistent connectivity through their provided modem.

but the points 1 and 2 above persist

any ideas or thoughts?

E2000 Guest Access "Problematic"

I installed an E2000 some time ago for my Church office with Guest account enabled.

Lately they have complaints about Guest access not working.
No login page is  presented to some users.  Others are OK.
Secure access is fine.

The firmware is 1.0.03 and there is no upgrade available.

I assume it is a browser issue, but have no details.

For now I have suggested that

1) If there are problems, try another browser to access a web site.  Insure the page is not cached in memory (press cntl-F5)..

2) Type in the login URL Manually (http://192.168.33.1/login.asp)

Any other suggestions?

Hi everybody,

I bought my wrt router 1900ac a couple of days ago as to upgrade my existing EA4500. I have (had) my ea4500 wireless router setup as a bridge as my dhcp is set via a mikrotik router. Anyway, I tried to setup the wrt 1900ac the same way. what happened next was that i could not access the router setup page anymore. it keeps forcing me to go to the linksyssmartwifi page and tells me the router is not setup properly. i have tried to reset the router via holding the red reset button to no avail. i mean i have held it from 10 second to upward of a minute. i am out of ideas. please help!

Guys, I just got a notification that firmware v1.1.7.160582 is now available to load for the WRT1900AC.  There's no info on the Linksys Suport/Download page of what this version has fixed but I'm going to give it a whirl to see if my connectivity/loss of wi-fi issues improve.

E1200 V2 slow speed

Hey, I recently bought the E1200 advertised as 300mbit/s but it is slower than my old WRT54GL. On wireless i get only 1.5 / 2 MB/s download speed and 6-7 MB/s wired max.  My ISP provides me 100 mbits/s download, around 12 MB/s without using the router.

I'm not an expert imto configuring routers, but i think i disabled anything that might slow it down but no changes at all.

I was getting 3-4 MB/s  wireless and 4-5 MB/s wired with the old WRT54GL...  something has to be wrong here.

Security flaw with E1200 router (and surely more)

After tinkering around with my E1200, I have found that if someone was to crack an access point's pre-shared key, such as mine, they would also have the ability to crack the routers webpage as well. By downloading the Linksys Connect application, entering the SSID and PSK, you have complete controll over the entire network.
I am not sure if this is what is supposed to be intended, but I can see it going a lot of bad ways if someone was to brick a businesses AP at the press of a button.

Daily Powering Up/Down AC1750 EA6500 Router

Hello,

Today I purchased a Linksys AC 1750 EA6500 router retiring my old WRT54G Wireless G router which gave me consistent service for the last 10 years.  My old wireless G was turned off and on daily through an automated electric timer behind a commercial grade surge protector. The old router performed flawless each and every day.

My question is whether or not the circuitry of my new AC1750 AE6500 will stand up to the same daily power on/off routine that my old LinkSys WRT54G did. As this is a higher end router I would like to protect my investment.

WRT1900AC - No IPv6 Internet After Update to 1.1.7.160582

My router automatically updated to 1.1.7.160582 last night and now it won't pick up an IPv6 address from my ISP anymore.  In the report window of the 'Troubleshooting' tab it just states "Disconnected."  However, when I connect the modem directly to my PC it obtains both IPv4 and IPv6 addressed from my ISP just fine.

Going back to the router, I've tried restoring the old firmware, rebooting the router, restoring factory defaults, rebooting the modem, and I can't seem to get IPv6 connectivity back.  It would appear that a new bug has been introduced by the new firmware; one that cannot be backed out of.

WRT1900AC - Disabling Activity Lights Is Not Completely Persistent Across Reboots

$

This is a minor issue, but a small annoyance nonetheless.  I have the activity lights on the router disabled, but whenever the router is rebooted the Wi-Fi activity lights come back on (the rest of the lights stay off as they should).  When that happens, I have to enable the activity lights and disable them again for all the activity lights to go back off.  Anyone have this issue?
