Slow WiFi speeds with ea9500 router and WUSB6400M

I just moved into a townhouse with Verizon Gigabit Fios. The speed is fantastic over wired connection. I'm getting 800+mbps up and down. Wireless, however, is quite a different story. I expected some drop in connection quality. WiFi is just never going to equal a good cat6 connection. I get that. But this doesn't add up at all:

  • The EA9500 promises "blazing speed up to 2166mbps" over 5ghz wireless.
  • The WUSB6400M promises "speeds of up to 866 Mbps."

Both are Linksys products. They should get along great...

So why am I getting 220-250mbps?

EA6400 brick after flash

Hello. I have a problem with EA6400. Yesterday I've flashed the newest firmware from the Linksys webpage Ver. 1.1.40 (build 176337). After the flash I can't get to web-based setup page. There is an error in webpage source code:

Failed to load resoruce: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) : http : // 192.168.1.1 / ui/1.0.99.176337/ static / cache/ js/ lib/ lodash.underscore.js

Look at the screen. I've tried to restore firmware using TFTP but it doesn't work - TFTP doesn't see (?) the router... Please, help... Hov can I restore older firmware?

Advice before EA9500 goes through window

Acquired an EA9500, version 1.

It's been nothing but trouble.

Firstly - what's with the interface? It looks like Tomy's My First Network? On a tri-band router, really?

Using it in router mode is ridiculous. You can either use NAT or you must use RIP. There's no option to simply turn NAT off. This is pathetic.

Using it with RIP activated caused a ton of trouble so I ended up abandoning trying to segment my home network with it and put it into bridge mode.

After a few hours of being relatively okay it's now decided it can't be bothered with the 2.4 GHz network and has seen fit to stop transmitting.

It's running 1.1.7.180968 - international version as it has channel 13 available which is correct.

I can't speak for the hardware, in their infinite wisdom Linksys go out of their way to prevent people from putting firmware that doesn't suck on the device, but the whole package so far is absolutely abysmal.

WRT1900AC VPN setting

Hi, maybe this is silly question but I'm wondering is it possible to setup VPN only on dedicated SSID (5GHz) so that the other SSID can be used as normal network trough my ISP. Trying to find the way but can't.

I'm new to this VPN and router settings so any newbie howto will be great.

My router suddenly stopped working. I was surfing youtube when my wi-fi connection suddenly dropped. I wired my laptop to see if wiring to it could get me into the settings page, and that didn't work either. My modem from Charter works fine, I wired my laptop to that and have had no issues - that's how I'm posting this actually.

I have tried power cycling multiple times, unplugging everything from the router and in every possible order three times and nothing. I noticed the "Linksys" logo flashing after powering it on, and I'm not sure if it's supposed to do that since I've never really payed attention to how the light should be acting.

My laptop and phone were the only two devices on the network at the time. I bought this router in mid July of this year from BestBuy. I really don't want to go out for a replacement since I'm disabled at the moment, so I'm hoping someone could help me fix this here.

Using a VPN service like VPN Unlimited

$

So...Is it possible to use the WRT1200AC as a VPN device so that everything on the LAN side is using a VPN service like VPN Unlimited? How do I setup or program the router? VPN Unlimited sent me passwords and IP adresses and an ovpn file. But, I don't see how to put this info into the router. I assumed (dumb me) that this router was able to do this. I guess I need to reflash the router with the new firm ware. And at this point I really don't care if the reflashing doesn't work because I have already spent the money.

If someone would tell me how to do this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks, Tom4

Linksys WRT32X missing any form of VPN and other issues.

How can this product be released with only OpenVPN client available to configure? No VPN server capabilities really on a $300 router???? It should have OpenVPN Server like your other WRT routers and PPTP.

Also how is the configuration section missing such basic options such as disable IPV6 for WAN. Furthermore, on large file sends via 5ghz to ethernet, rate keeps hitting 0mb/s then back up and down again. So many issues with this router, I do not know how this made it through QA.

Could not get internet connection with WRT1900ACS on WAN Network

Hi all

I live in a community which offers internet over WAN with Ethernet ports in all rooms.  The ethernet switches are in the house and, from my understanding, operate the local network with 192.168.46.x The house had an old wireless router (Tilgin) which worked but was slow, unreliable and couldn't cover the entire house.  I decided to buy the WRT ACS1900ACS as a wireless router.  That router had a DHCP server allocating addresses 192.168.1.1xx.  According to what I saw online, 192.168.46.x and 192.168.1.1xx should not conflict.

I removed the old wireless router from the network and replaced it with the Linksys router.  Plugging the new router into any Ethernet port in the house always gave me a flashing yellow internet LED, indicating internet connection down.  The internet connection works when I plug my computer directly into the wall.  I could connect fine to the router through wifi or ethernet.  It assigned IP addresses as expected in the sub domain 192.168.1.1xx, as expected.  It just couldn't get on the internet through the router

After playing with the setup for 3 entire days, trying bridge mode, cascading, trying to copy the setup of the old router with static or DHCP, I got the same result.  Bridge mode got the router into a mode I could not even connect to anymore.

I gave up in the end and connected the new router WAN port to the old one on LAN through an ethernet cable.  smart wifi  ran fine and internet now works, albeit on the sub domain 10.219.xxx.xxx, I guess to resolve the conflict with the old routers sub damain addresses.

Now I feel that my set up is not great as I am connecting through 2 routers sitting on top of each other.  hardly ideal and this bugs me.

Can anyone give me hints on a possible solution?  I would like to run with the linksys alone.

Thanks!

VLAN Set-up for Astro IPTV MAXIS Malaysia on WRT1900ACS

I thought I would just share my experience setting up my WRT1900ACSfor Astro IPTV via Maxis in Malaysia.

The provided gateway is a bit pox and decides to drop wifi connections at random (never switched off for three years). I took the plunge and upgraded. The WRT1900ACS was the best value device available at Harvey Norman in NuSental KLSentral.... but I digress... So after scouring the internet (light to moderately) and spending some time on the phone with Astro IPTV tech support & Linksys tech support, here is the most successful set-up so far (only running for 2 hours at this stage - will hopefully update as I progress). After setting up the internet settings (username & password) and plugging it all in... I set out to configure the VLANs.

My goal:connect the internet & IPTV service.

[I'm not using the VOIP so I can't help you there... but if you work it out. Please let me know and I can update this!]

First, I used the "Maxis (Fibre)" profile (below). Saved it. This got me online. Which allowed me to update the router's firmware. However, there was no success with connecting the IPTV...

Initial Set-up

... so while on the phone with Linksys support I found this website: http://www.msblog.org/2015/02/07/configure-astro-iptv-using-a-custom-router-openwrt/  from the LowYat forums here.

So I switched to Manual profile on the VLAN section and updated the ID for Port 4 to "823". (Image below)

Port 4 ID 823

Success! This got the Astro IPTV up and running... however with one problem: the "On Demand" section on the Astro IPTV Box does not work.

After long discussions and investigation with Astro IPTV tech support, we concluded that Astro IPTV lacks the capacity to support "custom routers" or non-company issued routers. A little bit funny, as this stops people from actually spending money on their extra services... we tried switching off the firewalls on the router, setting two of the four Static DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 -- I've since switched the firewalls back on and deleted the DNS back to 0.0.0.0 and the IPTV is still running.

All channels on Astro loaded, even the new Warner Chanel (719). The TV guide was a bit slow to populate, but it did eventually and about 6 days worth in advance, I think this took about half an hour.

I'm very happy to have upgraded to a decent router. I am now able to stream Apple TV @ HD, YouTube @ HD (on a mobile phone), & Netflix through my browsers simultaneously without lagging, jittering/stuttering, stopping and buffering. It's just magical! The old gateway/router they provided doesn't meet the network demand at home anymore.

EA8500 losing internet connection

$

Strange thing happening. I have 4 devices hard-wired into my router and occasionally all 4 devices will lose internet connection until I power cycle the router. I just received a brand new EA8500 replacement and sure enough, a day after I set up the new router, all devices hard-wired lost connection. Wireless devices however don’t lose their connection and work. I have my router connected directly into the wall jack (no modem since I have fiber internet). I’m not sure if this is a bug with latest firmware or if it’s an issue with ISP. The Internet port is obviously working on the router and network jack since my wireless devices are connecting fine. Not sure what may be the issue? :-/

Any Routers w/o Neutered Throughput When Operated as an AP???

I'm stumped both my WRT1900 units are neutered when operated as an AP.

My observation has been

Router WLAN PC -> AP WLAN PC … 2GB file transfer = 2-4 MB/s YUCK

  • AP WLAN to Router LAN = 40MB/s
  • Router WLAN to AP LAN = 40MB/s
  • Router WLAN to Router attached storage = 40MB/s
  • WLAN to WAN on either router or AP via speedtest.net = 240mbps ~ 30MB/s

I spent hours trying to prove the poor performance was my error to no avail.  Notes here:

Ultavive garcinia wasn’t particular with the Better Organization Organization during the length of our analysis, and there weren’t any other company titles verified on the supplement’s web page. Generally, all we’re recommended is that they’re comes from Barrier coral reefs Cables, FL. But here’s our hunch: 50% of ultavive garcinia’s elements are exclusive formulations from InterHealth Nutraceuticals, so we think this is probably ultavive garcinia’s manufacturer. Do we know for sure? No.
