Hey guys, first time poster and pretty noobie when it comes to router config in general. I know how to open porte but thats pretty much it... could anyone help me setting up a second WRT1900ACS to extand the wi-fi range of the first one, while keeping a 2.4ghz and a 5ghz SSID that would be the same for both.. ive read around and saw talks of cascading and all that, but as I{ve said, my knowledge is limited...

Thank you veyr much in advance.

WRT1900AC Slow wifi download speeds

Hello,

I have a WRT1900AC and it's acting very strangely.

I have a FIOS box with 100M service.  If I connect my computer directly to the FIOS box either wired or 5G wifi, I get over 100M down and 100M up.

When I hook up my WRT1900AC up to the FIOS box with a cable, then connect my computer to the WRT1900AC to my computer with a cable, I still get 100M down and 100M up.

The problem is when I connect to the WRT1900AC with wifi.

Initially I was getting only about 2M down and 2M up.  This was with media prioritization turned off and at defaults.

I upgraded the firmware to latest as of 9/6/2017, and no change.

I enabled media prioritization, changed bandwidth to the max of 2000000, and now I get 2M down and the correct 100M up over both 5G and 2.4G wifi.

I turned off media prioritization, and I still get only 2M down and over 100M up.

So, what's the problem?  I have reset the hardware several times.  I know the cables are good because when I use cables only, I get over 100M up/down.  I know the computer's wifi is good because I get 100M up/down when connected to the FIOS box's built-in wifi.  I also get 100M up through the WRT1900AC, but I still only get the 2M down through the 1900AC.

Displayed signal strength is 100% in all cases, as the computer is sitting 10 ft from the fios box and WRT1900AC.

Any ideas?  It's like the wifi down speeds are being throttled drastically but I can't get it to go full speed like I finally got the wifi up speeds.  I really want to use the WRT1900AC instead of directly to the FIOS box because the FIOS box wifi is kind of weak and doesn't cover even half of my small house.

Thanks in advance!

I noticed the icon set within Netwok Map is extremely limited.

Is there any way to add additional device icons that I can associate with the devices I have?

WRT1900ACS Flashing Power Light

Hi All,

Just purchased a certifed refurbished Linksys WRT1900ACS router and set it up.  It worked beautifully for about 30 minutes and then came the issues.  The router rebooted itself and the power led would flash with no internet light illuminated.  I unplugged the power brick for 30 seconds, plugged it back in and the router worked with solid led lights for the power, internet and 2.4 gHz.  After 5 minutes, the router rebooted again and the power led would flash again with nothing else illuminated.  I repeated this once again and the same thing happened after about 5 minutes.  I am assuming this may be a firmware issue and  I was able to go into the Linksys smart wifi page and checked that I had the latest firmware installed.  Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

Thank you in advance!

WRT 1900AC Router gateway IP

Hi All, I'm using WRT 1900AC Router as my DHCP server, the IP is 192.168.1.1, when client PC gets IP they will have this IP as default gateway as well. How do I make them to get 192.168.1.2 as default gateway as this is my ADSL modem/router? I know I could use my ADSL router as DHCP server and turn of DHCP function on WRT 1900AC but just wondering if this can be done on LinkSys?

ip address not in valid subnet

I have a Cisco/Linksys EA4500 Wireless Router connected to a Time Warner Arris TG862 Cable Modem.  I am trying to setup a Foscam F19821p v2 Wireless Camera to access outside my home wifi network.  I have setup a static ip address for the camera.  I need to open a port on the router.   When I input the camera ip address i get the "ip address not in valid subnet" error regardless of what protocol I select.

LinksysSmartWiFI (external admin) Setup not working on EA7300

I recently updated my EA7300 to the latest firmware, 1.07xxxxxx. The update worked fine and I had no issues. The local access to the admin GUI works as it did before. All the settings stayed the same.

Afterwards, I deleted my WAN-side admin account as I was changing email accounts and didn't want the router associated with a dead email account. This is where my problems began. I created a new admin account for access outside my local network - for using the linksyssmartwifi.com URL to login. I received the confirmation email from Linksys for 2 out of 3 of my attempts (all using different email addresses). When I clicked on a confirmation link, I am taken to the router login page and told that my account was validated. However, when I try to login with my credentials I get the "Associate Your Router with Your Account" page which as some brief but unhelpful text. When clicking the okay button, I'm taken back to the linksyssmartwifi.com login page. I enter in my credentials... taken back to the "Associate Your Router with Your Account" page and round and round.

I thought that there might of been some error in the firmware update so I reset my router using the hardware reset button. When the router reboots, it goes through the automatic setup. I completely reentered all my previous settings (didn't want to import the previously saved settings, as I thought there might be a glitch there somehwhere). Everything matches my previous pre-firmware update settings as far as I can tell. The reset didn't make any difference whatsoever.

What am I doing wrong? What's the fix?

At any point, I can login using the local IP number I've assigned the router.

Thanks in advance.

Linksys EA9500 Cycle reboot every two minutes

Hello!
I bought router Linksys six months ago. Worked perfectly.
But now it does not work. Cycle reboot every two minutes.
I can not access the web interface.Resetting to factory settings did not give results.
I connected the UART USB-TTL adapter with the cable on the PL2303HX chip.
I saved the log and realized that the firmware does not load.
Then I did the following:

1, Set machines IP to 192.168.1.10/255.255.255.0 with Gateway = 192.168.1.1

2. Run Putty and connect to serial port (115200 8-bits per character, no parity, and 1 stop bit)
3. Ctrl+C to CFE prompt
4. Run TFTP Server and point to 192.168.1.10 to use it as server address.

5. Click Show Dir and select the file the transfer and click “Copy”

When you click the "Copy" button, nothing happens.
What firmware can I upload to this router?

Help please understand!

Any trouble shooting help would be much appreciated.

WRT3200ACM GRPC with Android Devices

$

There is an ongoing issue where certain GRPC connections seems to not work with Android devices connected to wifi broadcasted from my WRT3200ACM. I've looked at the logs for the devices and they get errors like the following:

E/GRPC: tcp_client_posix.c:176] failed to connect to 'ipv4:127.0.0.1:12389': socket error: connection refused

When I'm connected to mobile data or other wifi networks, I don't see this issue. It is very obvious and very annoying because a large number of Google services are dependent on these connections working and it prevents them from working correctly. I can't look at email attachments in Inbox, Firebase and other Google Play Services that are based on these connections also don't work properly.

I've also seen this behavior on multiple Android devices. Google Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, and Motorola G4 Play. It would seemingly affect more devices, but those are all of the devices I have tried with.

EA8300 Guest Access via browser login

Is there any way of not having to log into the guest network via a web browser? Frankly it's a pain in the neck for my guests to have to log in every time they come to the house. It would be better if they could set and forget as I do with the regular wireless network. Feature/enhancement perhaps?

EA6400 brick after flash

Hello. I have a problem with EA6400. Yesterday I've flashed the newest firmware from the Linksys webpage Ver. 1.1.40 (build 176337). After the flash I can't get to web-based setup page. There is an error in webpage source code:

Failed to load resoruce: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) : http : // 192.168.1.1 / ui/1.0.99.176337/ static / cache/ js/ lib/ lodash.underscore.js

Look at the screen. I've tried to restore firmware using TFTP but it doesn't work - TFTP doesn't see (?) the router... Please, help... Hov can I restore older firmware?

Advice before EA9500 goes through window

Acquired an EA9500, version 1.

It's been nothing but trouble.

Firstly - what's with the interface? It looks like Tomy's My First Network? On a tri-band router, really?

Using it in router mode is ridiculous. You can either use NAT or you must use RIP. There's no option to simply turn NAT off. This is pathetic.

Using it with RIP activated caused a ton of trouble so I ended up abandoning trying to segment my home network with it and put it into bridge mode.

After a few hours of being relatively okay it's now decided it can't be bothered with the 2.4 GHz network and has seen fit to stop transmitting.

It's running 1.1.7.180968 - international version as it has channel 13 available which is correct.

I can't speak for the hardware, in their infinite wisdom Linksys go out of their way to prevent people from putting firmware that doesn't suck on the device, but the whole package so far is absolutely abysmal.

My router suddenly stopped working. I was surfing youtube when my wi-fi connection suddenly dropped. I wired my laptop to see if wiring to it could get me into the settings page, and that didn't work either. My modem from Charter works fine, I wired my laptop to that and have had no issues - that's how I'm posting this actually.

I have tried power cycling multiple times, unplugging everything from the router and in every possible order three times and nothing. I noticed the "Linksys" logo flashing after powering it on, and I'm not sure if it's supposed to do that since I've never really payed attention to how the light should be acting.

My laptop and phone were the only two devices on the network at the time. I bought this router in mid July of this year from BestBuy. I really don't want to go out for a replacement since I'm disabled at the moment, so I'm hoping someone could help me fix this here.
