So I have gone through every possible setting I can think of. Flashback about a week ago, I had an E1200 wireless router and I was having one heck of a time trying to keep my download speed above 2 mbps. So I just figured that the wireless side of the router was going bad so I went out and purchased the EA6350. I have one device the operates on the 5ghz band, one device that is plugged in via ethernet, and all the rest are only capable of 2.4ghz. I get 15mbps (which is what I expect from my ISP) on the ethernet computer and the 5ghz band. But the 2.4ghz band I can be sitting directly next to the router about at most get 4mbps, walk away 10 feet and the speed drops to a crawl.
Now for what I have tried:
1.) I have changed the wireless channel to every known combination possible. My neighborhood is pretty busy with wifi networks but channel 1-4 seem pretty open so that is where I am now.
2.) I have the channel width set to 20mhz only.
3.) I have tried disabling IPv6
4.) I have tried enabling media prioritization with WMM support on and downstream set to 15360.
5.) I have tried disabling all firewall settings
6.) Security mode is set to WPA2 Personal
7.) Network mode has been set to n mode, g mode, and mixed, no change.
8.) I have even moved the router all over the house, even in three different room and 3 different floors.
But now here is the one thing that does work, one time, every time. Power cycling the router. The second I reset the router, whether through unplugging it or reset through the smart wifi app, it works fine for about an hour and then goes right back to the same situation. I assume it is some kind of interference but I just can't figure it out. Please somebody help, i'm tearing out what little hair I have left trying to figure it out.
Thank you in advance.
