EA6350 Slow speed on 2.4ghz band.

So I have gone through every possible setting I can think of. Flashback about a week ago, I had an E1200 wireless router and I was having one heck of a time trying to keep my download speed above 2 mbps. So I just figured that the wireless side of the router was going bad so I went out and purchased the EA6350. I have one device the operates on the 5ghz band, one device that is plugged in via ethernet, and all the rest are only capable of 2.4ghz. I get 15mbps (which is what I expect from my ISP) on the ethernet computer and the 5ghz band. But the 2.4ghz band I can be sitting directly next to the router about at most get 4mbps, walk away 10 feet and the speed drops to a crawl.

Now for what I have tried:

1.) I have changed the wireless channel to every known combination possible. My neighborhood is pretty busy with wifi networks but channel 1-4 seem pretty open so that is where I am now.

2.) I have the channel width set to 20mhz only.

3.) I have tried disabling IPv6

4.) I have tried enabling media prioritization with WMM support on and downstream set to 15360.

5.) I have tried disabling all firewall settings

6.) Security mode is set to WPA2 Personal

7.) Network mode has been set to n mode, g mode, and mixed, no change.

8.) I have even moved the router all over the house, even in three different room and 3 different floors.

But now here is the one thing that does work, one time, every time. Power cycling the router. The second I reset the router, whether through unplugging it or reset through the smart wifi app, it works fine for about an hour and then goes right back to the same situation. I assume it is some kind of interference but I just can't figure it out. Please somebody help, i'm tearing out what little hair I have left trying to figure it out.

Thank you in advance.

EA6350 precludes an app on Samsung TV from displaying movies

I have a EA6350 router. It worked well for some time, but then one of the apps (NovaPlay) on my Samsung TVs (I have 4 at home) stopped displaying movies (it shows the news though). I tried all possible solutions, and the only one that worked out is bypassing the router. Nothing in the settings of the router worked out for me.

In the same time, my wife's laptop (Asus) is having connectivity problems when on Wi-Fi, which immediately disappear when I switch to LAN.

It is now obvious that something in the router settings is not right and is preventing the Samsung TVs to display movies on the NovaPlay app as well as is causing troubles to the laptop when on Wi-Fi.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Can't connect second appliance/lamp (825LM) through my LiftMaster Internet Gateway (828LM)

Gateway is wired connected to Linksys EA8500.

Appliance/lamp using LiftMaster WIFI module (825LM) to link with the Internet Gateway (828LM)

Already have an appliance/lamp module working with the gateway.

The second appliance/lamp can't find the or won't connect with the gateway.

I think its a conflict of some kind. Would like to know possible EA8500 setup changes that may resolve.

I bought an ea7500 for a backup. I have an ea7300 and it works great. I hooked up the ea7500 and the 2.4ghz band is slow 1 to 4mbp download speed, upload speed is okay though. The slow speeds or on my laptops only with built in WIFI but if I put a WIFI adapter in the download speeds are 30mps on my laptops. Anyone have this issue? Thanks

EA8500 No Setup Options/ Screen Blank

I tried to setup a new ea8500 straight out of the box, but could not access the router options. I tried multiple PCs, different browsers, and even the iphone app. I tried both connected to the internet and not, both wired and wireless. I reset the router several times. I could only get as far as logging into the local router with "admin". It would accept and load a blank blue page with no options. I got the same results with linksyssmartwifi and 192.168.1.1 I could ping it fine. I could access the internet but could not get into the router setting to change the ssid, etc. Did I buy a dud or is there something going on I may not be concidering? Would returning the router for a new one give me the same results?

WRT1900ACS V1 1.0.3.177401 - How to manually update firmware?

1.0.3.177401 was release last week. Until now, my router did not recognized that there is a new version.

I would like to install the version manually.

Based on this article from Linksys, there should be a button for "Choose File":

http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=140365

Such button does not exists in my UI:

So how to I update manually?

WRT3200ACM : interchangeable gigabit WAN/LAN ports

Hello,

Can firmware add this feature : interchangeable gigabit WAN/LAN ports ?

So that we could load balance or fail over wans.

Defining a DMZ port would be a nice addition as well.

Is it already planed?

Any way to deal with bufferbloat?

I have a Linksys EA7500, an Arris SB6141 modem I bought, TWC Internet 15/1 speeds, but speed tests give me results of 17.75/1.20-1.50. I noticed when I played games and someone started watching YouTube in HD or Netflix, I'd get some major lag. In Star Wars The Old Republic for example, my ping usually hovers between 35-40, sometimes just going up to 60 and going back down seconds later. But if someone watches YouTube in 720p quality or higher, my ping will spike up to 250, even going up to 900 at times if 1080p or 60fps is being watched. I'm on a wired connection, too. And if I'm playing an online game on PS4 I'll just get constant lag. I play my PS4 wirelessly, but even when I plug an Ethernet cable in I still get lag. Did that DSLreport bufferbloat test and got a big F. So is this a problem on my end? I don't have Media Prioritization enabled, but I clicked it and saw settings and it had download bandwidth at 20403kbps or something along those lines. But again, it's disabled so does that even matter? If I enable it would it stop the lag in games but also still enable YouTube videos to be watched in HD? What exactly do I set up in media prioritization? Or would it not help at all and I just gotta deal with this?

THE WRT1900ACS USES A SINGLE MAC ADDRESS FOR *all* PORTS!

THE WRT1900ACS USES A SINGLE MAC ADDRESS FOR *all* PORTS! Here's the solution.

If you have multiple static IP addresses on your external "Internet" port, AND...

If you are using a single managed switch and a PORT based VLAN system .or...

If you are using a configuration similar to "Router on a Stick" (But not the same as, since there is no trunking or VLAN frame tagging involved)...

You must change to a user-defined MAC address on the Internet (WAN) port. To do this:

->Make sure the Internet or WAN port cable is disconnected.

->Open the Linksys web configuration, Click Connectivity on left. Click the "Internet settings" tab.

->In the lower right corner, select the "Enabled" option to clone the "MAC ADDRESS CLONE". DO NOT click the blue PC box. The MAC address will default to the MAC address supplied by Linksys for the entire device. It is BEST to only change one of the last 3 characters of the address. Valid options for each section are 00 to FF.

Lets say your MAC defaults to this:
60:38:E0:06:6C:1B
I would change the second to last character to 9 or F:
60:38:E0:06:6C:FB

->Click Apply. Your WAN or External port will now have a unique MAC address. The LAN or Internal ports will remain the same.

->Connect your Internet port to your external vlan port. You should be up and running.

There is an extremely remote possibility that the MAC address you changed to is in use somewhere else. If your router's internet goes up and down, but your other external devices are solid, I would change the MAC address again to something different. Then if it's still not working, it's something else.

This is something of a business type configuration. If you're attempting to setup a standard home internet connection, this is probably not for you. But if you know the words IPTABLES, IPCHAINS or DD-WRT, this is need to know.

Hopefully this post will save some of you some time. I spent several hours trying to figure out why I could not replace a WRT54GS v4 with a new WRT1900ACSv2. I stuck with it because I knew there was no way a nearly decade old router could do something a new router could not. While it makes sense to have the same MAC address for all LAN ports, I don't understand the logic for having the same MAC on WiFi, LAN, and WAN ports. Maybe they are running out of MAC addresses too? But knowing this made the solution obvious.

In my case, we have a static IP external /29 network which provides 5 usable public IP addresses. We had 2 linksys WRT54GSv4 routers on port based VLANS. So both routers plug back into the same physical switch. Even though I'd assumed the switch was segmenting at the physical layer, there was still a conflict. The ARP table on the switch did not show a mix of ARP domains. Go figure.

WRT3200 allowing traffic even after manually blocking device

Is there going to be a firmware update soon?  The parental controls and blocking of devices is terrible.  Even after manually blocking the iPad the Skype App still works.  In the Linksys control panel it still shows traffic going to and from the iPad.  iMessage is the same.  It works after the Parental Control time setting and also after manually blocking it.

Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) problem on WRT3200ACM

I just replaced my WRT54G with the WRT3200ACM the 01/21/2017 Since that date, I am not able to connect to my home network through a PPTP VPN. The error generated on the windows log on the computer that do have the VPN server shows: A connection between the VPN server and the VPN client (70.210.x.x) has been established, but the VPN connection cannot be completed. The most common cause for this is that a firewall or router between the VPN server and the VPN client is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packets (protocol)

Port 1723 has been forwarded to the computer that do host the VPN server. DMZ not activated.

It works with my previous router (WRT54G) but not with the one.

firmware version 1.0.5.176416

It works when DMZ is ON but it is a huge security risk to turn it on.

I am dealing with this issue since day 1 and I am wondering if I should return this router to the store?

Thank you

Use Modem + Router with Linksys Features

Hi,

I recently upgraded to a Max-Stream EA9500. The device works great, however my smart TV didn't work with it. After consulting with a network tech, I enabled my Netgear xDSL modem (DM200) in router mode and switched the Linksys from dialing in PPPoE to bridge mode (which fixed the previous issue). However, this disabled many of the smart features which I regularly use.

So my question is: is there any way in which I can have the modem as the default gateway and be able to access its UI over the network while still being able to use the Linksys smart features? All network traffic goes through the Linksys, none directly to the modem.

Thanks!

Connecting my MacBook Pro 2016 Touch Bar to my EA9500. I am experiencing slow link speeds, network speed is only 11 Mbit/s. On latest firmware and the device is marked as priority in the media prioritisation.

Is anyone having this issues, any ideas how to fix?

EA6900: where is the network map?

I just installed a new Ea6900 smart wi-fi.

Firmware: 1.1.42.174776

I see internet references to something called a "network map".

I'd appreciate it if someone can show me how to view it.

(I do have "device list" under "Smart wifi tools" but I cannot locate the network map option.)

Cheers

EA6350 Disconnects from Ethernet and WiFi connections

Ok so I just spent an hour on tech support live chat dealing with constant disconnects from my router for them to just tell me my warranty ran up that day and they can only help me if I wanna pay. This is my last effort to get some actual help on fixing my router sense the tech support can not do their job. Rant over

So I have been experiencing constant disconnects from my router. Both Ethernet and WiFi connections stop and the status light just keeps blinking. I have used my desktop that is directly connected to it and tryed to ping it thru the command prompt and it fails. I do not know if the router is rebooting or just simply dropping connection. I have tryed to update to the latest firmware v3 but it fails during install and checking for updates in the router menus says I have the latest update. Can anyone save Linksys poor customer service and tech support before I switch to a netgear router?

Parental Controls not consistently working

I had parental controls set to block an iphone at 5pm, but i went over and saw that the child's iphone was still streaming youtube video around 5:10pm.  What am i doing wrong here?  BTW, i am going to return this router IF i can't get this working properly. I bought it for the parental controls, and if it doesn't do what it says it will do, i will have to return it.

Parental controls doesn't block apps

New Linksys owner.  Just bought it for it's parental controls.  Had them set up weeks ago and thought they were working, but the kids apps installed on the phones are still able to get to internet content during blocked hours.  For example, the youtube app on iphone works perfectly.  What gives?  This overpriced device is going back to Linksys and i'm going to use my old router instead (and save myself $400).
