Can ping 2 devices connected to router but can't exchange info between them ?

Hi

 

I have a new Cisco Linksys E900 Wireless Router.

 

I connected my laptop and my mobile to my Cisco Router and by default both got DHCP IP Address.

 

I tried to ping both the devices through each other and it receives the ping.

 

Now i have Apache running in my laptop. and i am trying to open website running in Apache ( Web Server ) on my laptop through my mobile ( via IP Address of lappy ) but it's not connecting.

 

Is there any thing wrong that i have done ? 

 

If there are multiple devices connected to router, can they share and exchange information and be used for data transfer, right ?Can it t be used as a Wide Area Network ?

EA6700 media server missing many audio files

Hello,

 

I have just replaced my WRT610N by the EA6700 because I did not have the time to install a media server on the DD-WRT the old router was running.

 

So basically I purchased the EA6700 to have my audio files available anytime I fire up the router which I would need to access digital files anyway and I did not have to start a NAS nor my ESXi server both running instances of Twonky Server.

 

Therefore I bought a Kingston DTHX30/128GB USB 3.0 stick and synchronized all files from the ESXi server (Windows 7 VM) over the network to the EA6700 (version 1.1.40.153731). Afterwards I successfully streamed some albums to my Philips NP2900 Internet radio when I found some albums were missing. Even after rescanning manually from the web page of the router or after power cycling the router the albums would not show up.

 

When I invested some time into research of this I tested using BubbleUPnP on my mobile which displays the number of albums, folders etc. once visited to find it only "serves" 7975 of the 12577 (81,4GB in 1313 folders) audio files. I have all artists in a single music folder and folders for their respective albums below the artist's folder. When I move half of the these artist folders alphabetically into a different subfolder next to the main music folder I can access all albums of the around 180 artists from the first folder - some of these I couldn't access before - and only around 40 of the 180 artists of the second folder - with different artists missing now.

 

Does anyone have the same problem, and furthermore a solution for this?

On the router's configuration page I can only change a few things, I can't even change the media server's name - are there advanced settings anywhere I can change for example the navigation tree (I only need 3 of the 11). Is this by any chance a Twonky Server running on the EA6700 - looks pretty similar to my other Twonkys?

Failed Smart Wi-Fi Upgrade

Attempting to upgrade to the Smart Wi-Fi GUI, in order to connect a printer to our EA4500, I am getting the error: "Not connected to a supported router." I tried both a direct connection to the router and a wireless one, both methods found no joy. Is there a way to connect the printer without using the VUSB program? We are not exactly enamored with the Cloud and/or the newer GUI. If not, is there a work-around for installing the Smart Wi-Fi Upgrade?

Issues with some websites and such

Hey all,

 

I don't think this is a router issue, but I wanted to post here and get some feedback.  I have an e4200.

I have a really strange thing going on here. Running windows 8.1. Did not have this issue when running 8 - though I can't say for certain it was the upgrade in and of itself that caused this.

I am having trouble accessing some webpages (or web stuff/services in general). Seems somewhat random. Some pages just do not display or they take a very long time to load. Sometimes if I refresh the page while it is trying to load then, according to the progress bar on the firefox tab, it gets to about 3/4 loaded, but the page does not actually display, just the progress bar is at 3/4 and the tab shows the page's name..

Other times a refresh will cause the page to load (though slowly), but the page never seems to fully load - firefox tab shows 'loading' animation.

Same with rdio software, very slow and sometimes doesn't display properly at all. The rdio website is also an issue in that the album art does not load or it does so very slowly.

I am also having trouble get to my router admin page. The login window comes up, but after logging in, same thing, just tries to load but a blank page.

All of this happens in firefox, IE and Chrome.

I also have issues with my Cisco Connect software - in that it takes a long time (if at all) for it to connect to my router.

At first I thought it was something to do with my router, but on my other win 8.1 machine loads the problem pages fine and I can get into my router admin fine as well. My ipads can access the problem pages as well with no problem.

I have the same antivirus and anti spam software running on both win 8.1 machines. Regardless. I've tried disabling everything including windows firewall to no avail. Both machines are connected via Ethernet.

It is just so weird and inconsistent it that many/most pages seem to load fine. But it happens often enough to be quite annoying. And it is consistently the same pages that cause issues.

I honestly have no idea what I can look at. Am hoping someone here may have some thoughts?

Ea6500 router goes to sleep and doesn't wake up

It goes to sleep like state, have to restart router, I was excited when I first got it, now it's just pissing me off I have yo run down stairs every morning and reboot it, can't get into it via computer, tried hard reset, tried changing address to 192.168.2.1, so angry

How To Reset Your Cisco 2960 Switch Password

With many cisco switch user have this problem for a long time. This article is in order to help them solve this problem with an easy method.

Easy way to reset Cisco 2960 switch password:
First, power off your Cisco 2960 switch by unplugging its cord. As you reconnect the switch to the power source, press and hold the "Mode" button. On Cisco 2960 switches, this button is located on the front of the switch, on the left hand side.

After three seconds, the LED above the button should change from amber to green and start blinking. You are supposed to hold down the button until the light stops flashing. Release the button.

After you had done those steps, you can reset your password.

I have a home automation server that I need exposed to the internet for remote control of certain feature.  I have tried port forwarding and DMZ, but can't seem to gain access to the server from outside my network.  Any thoughts as to why?

EA6300 - DLNA server using subtitle files

Is there an option or upgrade the EA6300 DLNA to enable subtitles using separated files from the video ones?

The subtitle file is placed in the same folder as the video file.
 If I connect the drive direct to the computer or TV I'm able to watch the movie with subtitles. But the subtitles are not available when I use the DLNA from the EA6300.

EA2700 loses internet connection- WHATS GOING ON?

I have an EA2700 router on a Comcast cable connection.  The cable signal runs through a Surfboard sb6121 cable modem, to the EA270, and to my desktop (Windows 7 with Firefox (latest version) and Norton Internet Security) by wired LAN.  I use Linksys SmartWiFi without cloud connect (rolled back a few months ago).

My problem is that I INTERMITTENTLY lose internet connectivity.  It isn't due to Comcast or my modem, since when I bypass the router and connect my desktop directly to the modem, it works fine.  Also, when this happens I am still able to print wirelessly over my home network.  It's just the internet that won't work.  I tried hard and soft resets of the modem (including 30-30-30 reset), router, and rebooted the computer.  Repeatedly.  Nothing works EXCEPT to unplug everything overnight.  When I power up in the morning, it works just fine.

 

Other details:  I have 11 devices on the wireless network, use DHCP reservations for each, and limit the number of allowed addresses (for devices) to 12.  Guest account is enabled.  I keep my software up to date.

This is extremely frustrating.  I am ready to buy a new router and even though I like the feature set of the Linksys offerings, I am wary of buying their products again due to these problems.  Can anybody help?  Thanks in advance.

How To Log Into Linksys Smart WiFi Account?

Hello,

I don't know where to access the Linksys Smart Wifi Account to sign-in and manage my routers. I have a EA4500 Router directly off the Cable Modem, and an E4200 and E3000 Routers to use as Access Points on the opposite side of my house and in the back covered deck area. I would appreciate help guiding me to get this started. I have a log-in username, email address and password, but don't remember if I've ever logged into Smart Wifi Account before. 

 

Inititally, I logged into my router by entering 192.168.1.1 in my browser and pressing enter. I'm also confused if I need to don't need to download and install Cisco Connect version 1.4 on my laptop in order to access and manage the routers of my network if I'm using Linksys Smart WiFi Account. 

 

I greatly appreciate your help as this is my first attempt building a wired and WiFi Network.

EA6300 5g Problems and Devices with no MAC

Problem 1

I have been on the phone with Support about 5g connection problems; 

sometime it connects, sometimes it does not,

When I reboot the router in my device connects, after awhile it starts to degrade and drop.

 

Yes I have separate ssid, Yes I have been working with support,

 

So  I had to go back to version 1.1.39

 

Problem 2

Devices where showing up, with MAC address as 00;000;00

 

Sorry to Say I settled for my Asus RT-AC66u in the meantime.

WRT54G won't allow upgrade with current Linksys FW.

I have an old WRT54G v1.0 router that I am trying to upgrade to the latest greatest firmware.  It currently is running V 1.01.4 dated 1/29/03.  I downloaded the latest from the WRT54G support area and keep getting an "Incorrect Image File" error.  I am 100% sure I have the correct file and it has a .bin extension.

 

I have upgraded 5 sucessfully so am wondering why it won't process this file.  Any help here?  Is there maybe an issue with that version of FW and maybe need an intermediary version?

WRTU54G-TM dropping wireless conn and signal

This router is dropping connection on average 10+ times a day. It has the latest firmware available from linksys. My ISP says their modem is not dropping connection and everything is fine on their end. It is hooked up to a vision net - model : M504 provided by the ISP. I have the router on channel 11. The odd disconnects consists of 3 seconds of internet dropping but wifi signal on. It does this multiple times throughtout the day. It also drops wifi signal completely multiple times throughout the day. The ISP has no clue what is happening, I've troubleshooted everything to my knowledge. The modem's lights are steady green when the router drops wifi/internet signal. I have multiple devices which are all on the wifi signal. This has no factor in the strength of signal. I have seen it drop with just one device online. I have also tried hardwiring to the modem and have seen it drop there too. The isp has replaced the modem twice now and tried new equipment to our connection. Nothing has been resolved. I am curious on what is causing the drops the ISP's modem or the router?

EA4500 Parental Controls Error 2179

I did a hard reset on my router, and rebuilt everything from new (ie reinstalled every wireless device).  When I try to use the parental controls on a WET610 (that is connected to an xbox) I block the time, but when I save I get ERROR 2179.  The firmware is up to date on both the router and WET610, and I did a Hard Reset.  I didn't have this issue until I did the first hard reset.  Any ideas?  or am I stuck buying a different access point?
