Any way to do it?
e4200 v1 changing user name
e4200 v1 saving configuration
The option in the web based software does not seem to work. I push the save button but nothing is saved. Mac OS 10.9.9. I tried Windows Xp under VMware with the same result. I tried various browsers.
The firmware is the latest.
Linksys Smart Wifi Woes...What is wrong with this picture.
Average computer technician Joe is always looking for ways to manage multiple devices from one interface.
Average computer technician Joe finds out about this new Linksys Smart Wifi (2 years ago).
Average ...Joe orders the first one and after a little difficulty sets it up
Average ...Joe installs the iphone app and praises Linksys and orders and sets up like 15 more various model Linksys Smart Wifi enabled routers, configuring them all to the same account
2 years later Average Joe is discovering that Linksys Smart Wifi is NOT SO SMART
I have 3 routers, that I cannot log into anymore. They work, customer is online, but the router itself just says "502 Bad Gateway" when I try to access the UI. I've read that I can unplug the cable from the wan port and login, and configure, then plug it back in.
This is not a solution!!!!!
What is wrong with these routers. Are just some of them bad? Out of the 15 routers I have setup, 3 of them NEVER work with the smart wifi interface. I will now have to go to each client and unplug their internet just to access the web ui to configure the router. That is pretty unacceptable!!
Factory resetting and reconfiguring a router is also not an acceptable solution when the problem is evidently pretty big. I google "Linksys 502 bad gateway" and get brought to 20-50 page forum posts of tons of people having the same problems with various model Linksys routers.
Is there no fix for this problem? The ability to manage a lot of routers from one login is amazing! But it has to work to be business viable!!!!!!
How to pick 33 out of 255 possible networks
Hello,
I just purchased a E8350 router and painfully discovered that I can't use 192.168.33.0/24 for local network because of Guest Access.
Super bad luck ...my whole IT is based on 192.168.33.0/24 and 192.168.133.0/24 networks.
When I mean "whole IT" I'm talking about NAS, ESX servers and so on.
I really would be nice to have an "advanced" menu or a SSH shell to change this network ...
Even if it's dirty ... I'm open to any solution.
Regards.
e2500 can't get ip address from modem
my internet quit working and after logging into the router and checking the settings I found it had no ip address and would not renew. I am able to plug a computer directly into the modem and access the internet just fine, but the router will not connect to the modem even after doing a swapping the cables and doing a factory reset. what am I missing?
Cisco E2500 (Linksys) configured as Bridge works then fails
I've set up the E2500 at one end of the house with a wire connection from my router at the other end of the house. It's plugged into a LAN port. After a system reset and configuration of SSID, password, etc., I set it to Bridge mode. It works for awhile and gets DHCP from the main router (192.168.1.254) then 5-10 minutes later the device reverts to using 192.168.1.1 as both router IP and DNS IP and stops working. At that point, I can no longer access setup info using 192.168.1.1 as a URL.
What is causing this? IP conflict?
There's not much to configure once Bridge mode is selected so I can't figure what's failing.
IPv6 address for E2500
I have recently installed a Linksys E2500 dual band and noticed that it has both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Is that a normal configuration? What is a normal IPv6 address for Linksys routers?
wrt54gx better
Is my Linksys WRT54GX MIMO router with external antennas better than some of the new "N" and "AC" with much smaller internal antennas?
Thanks
Hello Fellow Linksys forumers! New WRT1900 Questions.......
Lots of good info on this forum, seems that WRT1900 owners are super hopeful that they bought the highest spec hardware only to find numerous intractable problems. With little to no thoughtful customer support available, the users are in a really tough spot - they want to love their hardware but deep down realize as a customer we are all just a number ($$$$$$) to these big companies.
With Linksys bragging about a 100 million boxes sold, makes you wonder if their glory days are behind them at this point!
My questions (2).
- Purchased last week, installed it last week - fromLinksys website. Wasn’t aware of the hardware revision to V2 until tonight so I checked my box and found it to be V1. Does this seem to you unusual? My WRT did not look new, scuffs and no plastic over the black plastic like the 8 port switch purchased at the same time made me suspicious from the very start that I was sent a refurb unit, when I paid for new! Is it really a big deal for a 100 MHz processor speed bump or a different radio card (Broadcomm)?
Would you return to get the V2 hardware? Mine has a fan that never spins up, and runs hot-hot-hot.
2. WRT firmware updated as soon as it could reach the internet to newest version (another reason to be suspicious it’s a refurb or dead stock since this "update" was released months ago).
My PC Laptop has a 2X2 radio that operates on the 2.4 Ghz band only, so no 5 Ghz until I install a better Intel Centrino 7620 radio card.
Here is the problem, the connection always starts at 300mbps, and drops down to 144 mbps, then eventually 1 mbps - by this point no internet access. I must disconnect and connect on the "currently connected to" window when you click on the power level meter in the task bar (Windows 7). Anyone have a fix for this? My configuration is standard, on auto for the wireless connection settings.
So at this point there has not been any re-boot issues.
I expect a lot of interest in my post, and can’t wait to hear your suggestions!
Thanks

is there a way to force WRT1900AC to local login?
When I enter myrouter.local or http://192.168.1.1 into my address bar, I only get the Smart Wifi login screen. The option to do a local-login is not present on the screen, although I do see the "div" for it when I "View Source" on the Smart Wifi screen that loads. Here is the div:
<divid="local-access"class="login-container margin-top-med"style="display:none">
For local access, <ahref="#"id="local-login">click here.</a>
</div>
(There is no other occurence of "local-login" in the View.Source)
When I tried to create a Smart Wifi account, it would keep prompting me for my router password to make the association, but never completed the association.
Is there a magic URL to type or another way to enable local login?
WRT1900AC Wifi gets flakey after a couple days
I'm using Retrospect to backup a couple of client machines connected by wifi. Works fine for a few days and then the wifi starts to disconnect in the middle of the backup and continues to do so until I reboot the router (not a power cycle, just a reboot from router's user interface). Reboot, backups run fine for a few day and then it will start disconnecting during backups again. Sure does seem like moving a bunch of data at one time after the router has been running for awhile causes something to get funky. Other than getting into the habit of rebooting the router every other day, does anyone have any ideas?
Need to reset wireless router
My wireless router : Lost my user name, paswword and disk to reset. What can I do so I can secure
wrt1900ac
Do all wrt1900ac routers have the eletrical/plastic/glue smell? Personally I don't think this is normal for a $250 router? Right out of the box it did this. I haven't had any problems so far (ie catching on fire) but you never know. I may return it dunno yet.
thanx

Linksys AC3200 Tr-band Router's VLAN Singtel (mio TV) Profile Not Working
Hi Linksys Fans,
I've recently bought the Linksys AC3200 Tri-band Router to replace DSL7002GRV(S) Aztech Router (provided by Singtel). As I'm a subscriber of Singtel Fibre Entertainment Bundle Group (inclusive of 200Mbps Unlimited Fibre, Singtel mioTV and Home Digital Line), I've chosen Singtel (mio TV) profile under VLAN tab of router's connectivity settings.
I'm able to connect to internet but not the mioTV. I've called Singtel customer service and they suggest me to ask Linksys instead. Before calling Linksys, I'm wondering if any one of you are facing similar problems and how do you overcome them.
Thanks.

Xbox live issues
Hi I am having issues with my xbox live connection and would really appreciate some help. I have an Arris touchstone WBM760A docsis 3.0 cable modem hooked up to my router (smart Wi-Fi EA6350). When I hook up the router to the xbox (hardwire) I get an open NAT, however when I attempt to connect to someone else, join a party chat, or host a party chat I get a network connectivity error. I've tried port fowarding and dmz and nothing works. I've spoken to my isp (comcast) and they tell me that it is nothing on their end and that is the router itself suggesting I should contact linksys. Ive reset the router a few times to its factory settings and tried to play with the settings and I still cannot get it to connect. If I connect the xbox directly to the modem without the use of the router it works perfectly. Help!?!?!

Linksys Router E900
Good Afternoon and pardon the interruption. My name is Raymond Johnson Jr. and I was just curious as to what the serial number for an E900 router was as well as where I could purchase the product. However, I am also trying to figure out if the firmware update was placed on the product before I purchased it. I am not able to contact the customer service for questions until after I purchase the product but it is not even release so I found that kind of odd. Likewise, I have been using linksys for a long time and am in need to get the product for my mother's internet connection. Now if the answer is not known that is totally fine, but I would like to know so I can switch router's for my mother. Thank whomever so much for the assistance.
P.S. When does the product come out or when is it being released?
EA4500 router drops signal for 4-5 mins ever hour
I have a brand new Linksys EA4500 wireless router and have been having difficulties with it since I got it. Basically, every 1-2 hours it will completely drop signal for about five minutes. My playstation (hardwired to the router) and my entire wireless network go down, kick me out of whatever I'm doing, and then come back after a few minutes of downtime. This signal loss never registers on any of my devices (they still show a connection to the network), but they lose the ability to send or receive data.
I've contacted my ISP and they've checked everything on their end and, according to their logs, my modem (also brand new) hasn't been disconnected once since this all started. That seems to indicate that the signal is fine until it gets to the router. I've tried changing the auto MTU settings to the router's max of 1500, but that hasn't solved the problem either.
The router is running the most up to date firmware as well.
Any suggestions?
WRT1900AC USB3 reduced drive access speeds over 5GHz network
On a laptop connected through ethernet cable, I easily get read/write speeds upto 60-70 MBps (~450-500 Mbps) to the USB3 harddrive (WDD portable drive) connected to WRT1900AC (V1).
A desktop, on RT-AC68U configured as media bridge using the 5 GHz signal from WRT1900AC, is able to communicate with the laptop (laptop on ethernet cable to wrt1900ac as before) at 400-500 Mbps as expected.
However, read/write speeds to USB3 drive over WiFi drops to a mere 6-10 MBps (80 Mbps max) from any device. Only ethernet connection to WRT1900AC is able to provide the full speed. Is this expected?
What ever become of the LinkSys we were able to depend on?
I recently decided to add a second range extender to my home network. My existing Linksys product would work only if it was in reasonably close proximity and I needed to get a signal closer to my upstairs office. The first product I purchased would repeately lose connections, hang, etc. and I was constantly power cycling it. So I returned it and ordered an RE6500 refurb product from the Linksys store. My problems were not quite as severe at first, but my page load times were pretty miserable. (Yes, I did try from my 5 different computers and did test with different browsers. We have one computer running XP, 2 on Windows 7, 1 on Windows 8 and tablets on Android.)
Since I was getting the same sort of connectivity and performance problems with the RE6500, I decided it must be something in my home network. First step was to have comcast change out the cable modem for one with built in WiFi broadcast, so I could take my Cisco wireless router out of the picture. Didn't see any noticeable change. I updated the operating system in the RE6500.. didn't see any noticeable change. Had the cable company come out and run packet checks on the network inbound and replace connectors on the connections between the house and the junction box and tried resetting the RE6500 (oh, so many times). During all of this I had moved the RE6500 down from my upstairs office to the room next to the Comcast wireless modem. I finally hard wired a laptop to the RE6500 and again checked all of the settings and reset where I needed to (I actually reset the whole thing to factory a few times and started over because it would hang.)
Here's the kicker... disconnecting from the RE6500 and running the comcast speed test utility, (connected wirelessly from the laptop to the Comcast router) I get a download speed of 56Mbs and upload of 6Mbs. This thing should be flying. Reconnected the cable from the laptop to the LinkSys and verify it's all connected back into the network. When I try to use the on board utility to run diagnostics... the ping test just hangs. Page load times almost resemble my flashbacks to 56k modems.
Bottom line... I've spent so much time troubleshooting this thing that it is well out beyond SysLink's 30 day warranty on refurb products, I'm out the price of frieght on the return of the previous product, the inbound shipping on this one AND the price of this one and have lost more days of work than I care to catalogue.
LinkSys used to be my go-to product. Cisco... here I come.
