I've been having random disconnects on both a wired and wireless connection with a brand new EA6350. Strangely it will sometimes kick off all devices off the network, or just some of them, usually for a minute but sometimes up to ten minutes. My router currently has firmware 1.0.3.159431.
Random Disconnects on both Wired and Wireless with the EA6350
E4200 v1 with NAS - very slow to no internet connection
Hi everyone,
Sorry for my long post... But I really need your advise!
I have a two-routers setup, the reason is one of them for my rental tenant and the other one is for my own home network with NAS, so that my tenant cannot access to my NAS. I am not good on networking, and this is my setup:
a cable modem with wireless Cisco DPC3825 (this wireless used by my tenant) with one of the LAN port goes to my home network E4200 WAN. And then one LAN port of E4200 goes to my Netgear NAS ReadyNAS Duo v1.
The two routers have different IP, so the cable modem cannot access to my E4200. Each bands on both routers have different channels and SSID to make sure they don't interfere each others, and they are physically about 2 feet apart. The E4200 and NAS have static IP assigned to the cable modem, and port forwarding set for necessary ports (as far as I know). Routers and NAS have the latest firmwares installed.
I have this setup running with no problem for years until this recent 2-3 months. Internet connection dropped to very slow to no connection on my E4200 wirelessly suddenly (I have my computers and ipads and iphones connecting to E4200 all wirelessly), and then comes back to live varies from 10 mins to hours, or sometimes I have to power off my E4200. At first it happens to the 2.4Ghz only, when i manually switched to 5G, it worked, but slow connections. These days, when it dies, it happens to both bands. Yesterday, even worst, when I use the bit torrent client built-in in my NAS to download stuffs, the internet stops. When I stopped the download, the internet is back... In all cases, when the internet dies on my E4200, the cable modem wireless is still active. And when the internet is down, I can still wirelessly connect to E4200 router web-based setup page.
Does anyone have a clue what's going on? Is it the E4200 is dying? Or the BT capped the bandwidth of E4200? Or just I have a dumb setup? Thanks in advance.

Connecting two EA2700 routers (wireless) and enable LAN connection on both
Hi all,
I have just bought two EA2700 routers, and I simply cannot perform the setup.
I have the first router connected to the modem, and need the secon router to connect to the first through wireless to extend the range. Secondly, I want to enable LAN connection from the second router to e.g. a computer, PS4 etc.
After having spend a lot of time on searching for at guide, I have given up... I really hope, that you are able to help me on this matter.
Thanks a lot in advance..
Help connect WET610N
Recently the SSD that Windows 8 was installed on crashed and I had to reinstall Windows 8 on my second hard drive. After booting my computer again I am unable to conenct to the internet through my previously working WET610N.
It says "unidentified networke - limited" connection. When I opened the browser based setup by typing "169.254.1.259" in IE, the settings I had previously used to connect to my WIFI were correctly saved. I verified that they were all correct (double checked network name, security mode (WPA2 Personal) encryption and passphrase and hit save and again had no luck.
I tried reseting the router by unplugging it for 30 seconds and again no luck.
If I go to the "wireless network site survey" I can see all the WIFI networks in range including the one I want to connect to (signal 65%).
A friend mentioned that I might need to install motherboard drivers first so I got the latest driver from online and installed them through a flash drive. I dragged them into a folder on my computer's HD and ran the setup there.
TLDR: Help! Previously working WET610N no longer functions after HD died and OS had to be installed on second HD.
EA6700 in Bridge Mode, How to change password
Evening all....another frustrating day trying to use my highly limited network skills.
Have an EA6700 in bridge mode to extend wireless signal to my gym (read garage with a rowing machine in it!) .... main router is an EA9600. Both units working fine but when I set up the EA6700 Bridge, I left the default password setup instead of making the password the same as the EA9600.
So if I understand right, EA9600 has dhcp on and is 192.168.1.1.....EA6700 Bridge has 192.168.1.138 (this is the IP I read from the device page of the EA9600. I switched dchp off and optioned bridge mode.
I cannot get to the admin page of the EA6700 to change the password. If I put 192.168.1.138 in the google box it comes back with nothing. As I say, this IP comes from the device page of the EA6900.
Anyone point me in the right direction to get to the configuration page of the EA6700 Bridge to change the password to the same as the main EA9600 please? It sounds simple but many hours later :-( .... the perils of an amateur hour trying do tech things.
Just to note, devices in the garage (Sonos box, Panasonic TV, very old Sony laptop) are all hard wired to the EA6700 and work fine for music and video....the reason for the wireless is to connect to a Chromecast in the back of the TV. Also works great I just can't change anything.
Many thanks for any help you can give me .... think I'm close to answer but as normal missing key componets of knowledge
OpenWrt Lost Password? Reinstall Linksys?
I bought a router on ebay (Linksys Wireless-G 2.4GHz). I went to setup my wifi password etc by going to the ip address on my browser. With these routers, even if you don't know the password, you can reset them to default. However this one doesnt have the normal software on it, instead it has "OpenWrt Admin Console" displayed. I found out that this is some sort of third party software, but I couldn't seem to get anywhere without knowing the password (the ebay seller doesn't have the password either apparently). I held down the reset button on the router itself but it didn't change anything.
Is there a way to reset this router back to the normal Linksys software, or to reset the OpenWrt to where I can access the settings?
The router is unusable to me without the password lol
E4200 stops every 24 hours
I have an E4200 that I have used successfully for a year or so ( Firmware Version: 1.0.04), for about the last week or so my internet traffic stops every 24 hours and I have to reboot the unit then I'm good for another 24 hours. Anyone have a clue to what has happened? I have not changed anything.
Parental controls are disabled
I only use wireless, so I do not know if this affects wired and wireless
Gigabit Router (Or HUB?) replacement for WRT54GS
Hello,
I have always (and only) used Linksys but it looks like I may need to roam over to Netgear or something unfortunayely. I am trying to find a GigaBit Speed (10/100/1000) Router to replace my Linksys wireless WRT54GS. It has to have an Uplink port.
My setup:
I have 2 workstation computers, (they are both render machines, workstations, (I'm an Animator etc) so my 2 machines need to talk to each other at fastest possible speed) and be able to go online with the router sending a wired connection to my Cable Internet Router in another room. (as it is setup now, but I believe the WRT54GS is kinda slow right? It would be ideal if it had WiFi to give internet to my devices in and near my room. But not a deal breaker if it didnt My Dell 7910 has 2 ethernet ports and I believe I could use the wired connection to my cable router to make that machin go online while communicating with my other computer using the 2nd ethernet port...
I am not 100% sure I need a ROUTER, a 'gigabyte HUB might be sufficient (but then I have never really understood the difference betweeen a Router and a HUB, they both hook computers to each other and allow them to go online right?)
so: If I could spend less money and get a fast HUB to do what I need that would be great. I only need to hook up 2 computers to each other using a fast wired connection, perhaps a 3rd computer someday..
Please help me find the cheapest fastest Linksys to do what I need, (hook two computers together (and optionally send a line to my internet router and have Wifi) . That s all I need it to do. Without any extras or frills, extra ports, or anything that increases the cost, so with these variables, what is the lowest priced one that would do? THANKS!
Update my EA6500? Why?
What on earth is going on? After a year of mostly troublefree service, I can't log in to my Linksys 6500any more. all I get is this mesage when I login. I've tried updates, re-registering, re-registering again when the support site failed to accept my registration, and tried to follow the instructions that the site insisted I needed to do to "upgrade my firmware" except the instructions don't match what I get on the site. Reboots and reinstalling the software on the PC makes no difference.
What should I do next so I can manage my router connections?
Session Failure! Please Login Again
Hello,
I am getting an error as "Session Failure! please Login Again" whenever try to change any of the settings of my router. Even when i try to put it on Dynamic IP from Static IP it says session failed and i am automatically logged out. To change settings of router i always need to reset it and then use the desire settings on first install, after that it is not allowing me to change any of these.
I already tried to upgrade firmware twice but nothing happened.

EA9200 Wireless Help
Hello everyone,
I posted a while ago about how bad my wireless speeds were on my EA9200 and everything that people suggested didnt really do much but I would like to try again.
I do not have a huge house from the point of my router to my living room there is about 20 to 30 feet with 2 maybe 3 walls that could get in the way depending where you sit in the living room. While on my phone which uses the 5Ghz I barely have a bar but I get approximatley what I pay my ISP for at about 90 down and sometimes 40 up when it wants to actually work (101 down 35 up is what I pay for) so its just not strong and disconnects a lot. For anything on the 2.4Ghz I dont even come close to it, maybe 20 down and 30 up and the strength is perfect.
Even on LAN i dont get everything that I pay for. Linksys sent me 2 replacement routers and I keep refreshing from the settings that were saved on the previous router like they tell me.
From help on here we had changed the channels of each and I know 1 or 2 other items which I cant remember the exact name of.
Is there something else I can do? Should I go for a WRT1900 or EA8350 router instead? My previous router from linksys had no issue with any thing wifi or lan related, everything including the 2.4 band got the right speeds that I pay for which is in the same exact spot as this router now.
Thank you
Cant register E8350 Router
Hello everyone, just bought an E8350 Router and cant register the product on linksys page because it simply just does not appear on the product list. Anyone know what the problem is?
I am in Latin America right now and trying to set it up, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Thank you beforehand for any help anyone can give me.
Also, for some reason, the set up CD does not install the Linksys Connect as it should during set up and cant install it manually either. I used my normal Smart WIFI web app to configure the router.
Thanks everyone.
wrt1900ac (I changed the local ip of the router after a power outage)
I changed the local ip of the router after a power outage , which brings me a lot of trouble because I have everything set up based on a class C network (192.168.1.x) and I changed it to a ip Type A (10.xxx), someone happens the same there any solution ?
UsedEA6500 thinks it is in Calf and it is in Indiana now! How do I fix this?
Sub-interfaces on WRT1900AC?
Hi All,
Is it possible to setup subinterfaces on each of the switch ports on the Linksys WRT1900AC?
If so, how is this done?
Many thanks for all and any help!
Need advice on network setup with E2500s
I have 12mb down, 1 up DSL coming to a Speedstream modem at 192.168.254.254 and then going to a E2500 at 192.168.1.1. Details below.
The E2500 ("router") is in "Automatic Configuration" with a DHCP server range .100 to .199. It distributes three LAN-LAN runs to:
1. A switch at 192.168.1.25 (outside the DHCP) about 120 ft away that distributes another 5 APs (Ubiquiti Unifi) of lengths varying between 30 ft and 300ft. Those AP's IPs are automatically assigned within the .100 to .199 range mentioned above.
2. A second E2500 at 192.168.1.50 about 70 ft away acting as another AP. It has its own DHCP server from .51 to .90. This AP is meant to be a "private" network, hence the separate range.
3. A hardwire PC with a static IP of 192.168.1.2 because I do port forwarding on it.
- The router is also working as an AP, so that's a total of 7 on the network
- The wireless SSID and WPA2 are the same for all 7 APs. I orginally had the private network on a different ID and security, but since it was effecting automatic changeover I made it uniform. I realize having the same SSID and security no longer makes it private; I may still change it back.
- The radio channels are all spread out on channels 1, 6, and 11 to avoid overlap
- Guest acces on both E2500s is disabled and all other settigs are their defaults
So my questions:
- Is this a sound setup?
- How does bandwidth get split up across the network? Is the full amount available to any AP at any moment or is it split up equally on the three LAN-LAN runs.
- Should the Ubiquiti APs be outside the DHCP range also?
- Does having a different DHCP range actually make the second E2500 separate from the .100 to .199 range or does that AP need to have a gateway of its own like 192.168.2.1?
I know these may be dumb questions, but I'm a novice so please understand.
e1200 router/comcast
hi
i just picked up the e1200 router on new years eve and it started working fine but now theres issues. the biggest issue we have is that with our various devices work and then they dont want to work. it varies but its usually 1 or 2 that decide to not work and work again.
i have tried numerous attempts at livechat to fix this and not the best solutions.
what happens is this various router address comes on the device and blocks any internet on it.
it usually is 192.168.15.2 and that wont let any internet go on the device.
my current cell phone had this ip show up and then it switches over to different functioning ips as i refresh the router etc.
i hope its not a defective router and that it can be fixed or else ill exchange it.
but how do i permanently stop this problem?
i also have setting this error come up before your device is properly set up but could not work due to the dns server response.
would this all be due to comcast problem or a linksys problem?
EA6900 Issues/Feature Requests
Hello All,
I have a EA6900 v1.1.42.161129
Here are some issues i have with it and would like to see in the next release.
Port 443 forwarding to internal and to router:
Currently you can forward port 80 to any internal IP as expected and if you hit the router 192.168.0.1 on port 80 it will be handled by the router and not forwarded as expected, and if you hit the external IP it will forwared to the forwarded internal IP as expected.
So:
My machine: 192.168.0.100
Router: 192.168.0.1
Forwarded IP: 192.168.0.10
192.168.0.100 -> 192.168.0.1:80 == 192.168.0.1:80
192.168.0.100 -> WAN:80 == 192.168.0.10:80
But this does not work with 443 (HTTPS).
When you hit the router on 443 with port 443 set to forward to an internal IP you can't access the router directly and this is not good or helpful at all.
192.168.0.100 -> 192.168.0.1:443 == 192.168.0.10:443
192.168.0.100 -> WAN:443 == 192.168.0.10:443
Port forward retestrictions:
I would like to see the option to restrict port forwarded IPs to a net-range.
DHCP Reservations:
I would like to set the DHCP pool to 100-115 and set reservations for systems below that range. This way as machines come online or new machines are added I put the into a none DHCP pool range and know what they are and new machines will always fall into the pool without setting a static IP.
