Can't access cable modem interface from network through router

I have an issue with I am no longer able to access my cable modem interface at 192.168.100.1 from any PC on my network since I changed to a EA7300 router. Internet and network are working fine, I just can't get to my modems interface to check signal strength etc.

I was using a Netgear R6220 for years with no issues. EA7300 is at default address of 192.168.1.1, which is the same as the old R6220.

I can not ping the modem at 192.168.100.1 either.

I like to new router, but if can't get access to my modem I wll have to return it and go back to my R6220.

EA9500 - Hidden SSID was working fine for years.

For the past 2 weeks, it cannot Auto-Connect to my MacBook Pro. It works fine with my iPhone6.

When I manually connects, it loses connection after 30 minutes. I have to reconnect it to the network.

Does anyone else have these issues?

Starz App ON Firestick Buffers when Connected to Lnksys Wireless Router

I'm have difficulty with video from Starz App buffering when connected to my Lnksys EA6350. The router is located only 6' from the firestick. Also there are no problems steaming video from Netflix or Amazon on the same Firestick. Another odd thing is that when I attempt to stream video from the Starz app on my Android phone I have the exact same buffering issue but as soon as I disconnect from the WIFI the buffering issue goes away. As with the Firestick, Netflix and Amazon work perfectly when connected to WIFI. I've reached out to Starz support asking for help with this but so far they haven't been able to come up with a solution. I'm hoping someone on this forum might have heard of a similar situation and could perhaps offer a suggestion.

EA9500 5GHZ Dropping Clients "Incorrect Password"

I have a Linksys EA9500 running in bridge mode on firmware version 2.1.1.186574.

I am using a late 2016 Macbook Pro and usually connect to the 5ghz band. At first, I connect fine. However, after a few hours, I get dropped from the 5ghz band and get prompted to "enter a password" and after I enter the right password, I get an error of "incorrect password". All other clients connected to the 5ghz band remain connected.

On the MacBook pro, I can connect to the 2.4ghz band fine with no issues.

I've factory reset multiple times with no success, the same thing happens over and over.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Disable remote access on EA8300?

Can I still access my EA8300's HTML interface from my LAN if I disable Remote Access? My understanding is that disabling remote access on prevents remote administration via the Internet and that disabling remote access is a good security precaution. Do I have that right? Thanks.

MR9000 DNS Issue(s)?

Hello, I am posting this in hopes that someone more advanced in wireless routers may be able to assist me. I have had my new WR9000 wireless router for 2 days now. I upgraded routers from my 10 year old Linksys E2500. I upgraded due to my ISP abilities to provide me with much faster service than the E2500 can handle. I am now up to 1GB download and 50MB upload.

Here is my main issue:

I have my MR9000 set up to my liking. In my previous experience with Linksys wireless routers and several ISP's later I have never had DNS issues until I picked up this new router. Unless I have my DNS setting to 8.8.8.8 I am unable to access the internet on my laptops or iOS devices. This setting must be set on the device itself or I am unable to connect to the internet. Here is the error I receive on my Windows 10 laptop in Chrome: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error.

Here is what I've tried:

  1. I've tried setting my DNS settings to this on the router. I am unable to connect with any device when I set my DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4
  2. Reset the router at least 6 times thinking it had something to do with my configuration. I don't have anything real advanced in my configuration so I highly doubt there is anything related to this.
  3. Contacted customer service and tried everything they recommended.
  4. Contacted my ISP. They assured me I should not need to change any DNS settings on my router to connect to the internet. This was true on my E2500. I never changed DNS settings on that router and never had any DNS issues.
  5. Connected my computer directly to my modem. I achieved promised speeds from my ISP and had absolutely no DNS issues or errors.
  6. I have made sure that my router is using the most updated firmware version. It is confirmed by the web interface and Linksys customer service.

Why is that I must use a public DNS setting to reach the internet using this router.

The router works well and my speeds are amazing on all my devices. This is a great router I just can't figure out the DNS issue(s).

Any ideas? Thanks for any input.

MR9000 DNS Issue(s) & Frustration

Hello, I'm a bit frustrated right now but I will remain professional in my comments and I am posting this in hopes that someone more advanced in wireless routers may be able to assist me. I have had my new MR9000 wireless router for 2 days now. I upgraded routers from my 10 year old Linksys E2500. I upgraded due to my ISP abilities to provide me with much faster service than the E2500 can handle. I am now up to 1GB download and 50MB upload.

I've been on the phone for over two hours and still don't have my issue resolved. Last night I was told by a customer service team member that my issue would be escalated and that someone would call me back within 8 hours. No call, no voicemail, no e-mail. No follow-up. Of course this adds to my frustration.

Here is my main issue:

I have my WR9000 set up to my liking.

Why is that I must use a public DNS setting to reach the internet using this router? After being on the phone with customer service/tech help last evening and having no luck fixing my issue they had to "escalate" to the next tier of support. The rep assured me I would receive a phone call with 8 hours. That never happened. Tonight after work and prior to me writing this post I was told by the chat agent that I should call the same number I called last night. I explained that they couldn't help me and that they had to escalate my problem. They said that someone usually contacts within 24-48 hours which is much more than the 8 hours I was quoted last night. The chat agent today also stated they would escalate my issue case to a supervisor but no supervisors were available at this time. huh?

The router works well and my speeds are amazing on all my devices. This is a great router I just can't figure out the DNS issue(s).

Any ideas? Thanks for any input.

EA9500 UDP Multicast Traffic not going through

Hello All,

I have an EA9500 for my software development and I enabled the Multicast Filter in the Security tab but the AP still does not pass the multicast traffic.

I have a test app sending UDP packets to 239.1.1.2 port 5500 and on the same laptop I open the client to receive the UDP packets sent by the Sender App. On the laptop it works but I know that my packets aren't leaving the local NIC.

My sender is wired and my received is wireless.

I am using a tablet to receive the UDP over WIFI but nothing is received.

How can I make sure that the EA9500 is doing its job and forwarding the multicast packets?

Thanks,

Gil

I recently upgraded my connection to 600MBPS and I get those speeds direct from the modem, but on the EA8500 wifi, both bands I do not get more than 300MBPS no matter what setting is tried.....

Is there a solution to this or is this just a crappy piece of hardware?

WD My Passport for Mac & WRT1900ac router

Purchased brand new Western Digital (WD) “My Passport for Mac” 5TB drive and want to add it as an External Storage to the USB 3.0 port of my Linksys WRT1900ac router. However, the router does NOT recognize the added drive. Anybody have a solution? NOTE: I’m using the cable provided by WD and it indeed works if I directly connect the drive to my MacBook Pro. AND, I know that the USB 3.0 port on the router also works. Clueless how to proceed. Any suggestions?

Requesting the ability to do the following:

  1. Release DHCP reservation from linksys. This is benificial when changing IP and not having to do it ont he device side.
  2. Add DHCP reservations outside the assigned range.  This may sound starange but I have devices in the .170 range for media that I dont have access to set static on.  Came from having equipment installed from a home automation and not having the abiility to set static IPS on my side. Ive owed other routed in the past that alolowed you to do this.
  3. Be able to setup DNS service do if dynamic WAN ip changes the router can update it i.e. dyndns.org.

I upgraded my PC with a new motherboard, which has gigabit LAN port. My old PC was running great with about 700-850 mbps speed before the upgrade. (comcast). With the new motherboard, my ethernet port is getting less than 100 mbps through the wired connection. I have all of the Realtek LAN drivers up to date as well as the BIOS is up to date. What can be causing the slow connection the the gigabit LAN port?
