Linksys Cloud Issues

Is the Linksys Cloud down? I am unable to acess my router. I keep getting the following message. I have had my account for a few years and haven't had any real issues until this morning. Internet started acting up this morning, requiring me to unplug my router. Left it unplugged for about 15 mins. Plugged it back in and this started happening. It is working fine otherwise.

EA8500 Firmware 1.1.9.192968 different quirk

I know there are already multiple threads in the Community regarding the issues with the latest firmware, but my issues seem to be slightly different. My internet speed over the last 8 or so months, slowly crept to a crawl. Never had an issue with Linksys products before, other than a router going bad or needing to upgrade for better connection speeds. Finally came across the issues in the forum (forever grateful to everyone who posted solutions and recommendations) about the latest firmware update.

Through trying the suggestions given, nothing seemed to work. If I reset my router and then rolled it back to the previous version, my 5GHz would not do the 80MHz, even though it stated it was in the online software. (I have a Mac and through wifi scan it showed only at 20MHz.) Wifi speed would not go above 23Mbps down and got 23Mbps up 2.4GHz or 5GHz. (Through my isp I have 400Mbps download speed.) Used Speedtest.net and Fast.com for testing on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. My Mac is a desktop and is connected via ethernet, but also has wifi capabilities, so I have checked both ways. Direct connect I got consistantly over 400Mpbs which was great. When checking via wifi with my Mac, iPhone or iPad, I was within 4' of the router. TV consistently dropped out. Could stream maybe one show on my tv and then wouldn't reconnect for a couple of hours at best. iPad could stream just fine.

If I use the latest rev of the firmware, everything works as it should... maybe. I get connected speeds of 400Mbps - 650Mbps up. Wifi I consistently get over 250Mpbs down and over 20Mpbs up on 5GHz and 25Mpbs or more down and 20Mbps or more up on 2.4GHz. And the 5GHz does change to 80GHz and can be seen via wifi scan.

This morning my internet locked up, for lack of a better term. It was working great for a whole day. Once I unplugged it and plugged it back in again this morning, it has been working fine. But now I cannot access Smartwifi via the cloud or the app.

Sorry to be so lengthy...

The quirks -

Why is it if I rollback to the previous version, can the 5GHz not change to 80MHz even though it says it is?

After resetting my router a second time, I can no longer rollback to the previous version even via download. States the file may be corrupt. I even reset my router a second time so I could try to install the last version, still no luck.

Today I had to unplug my router because it wouldn't connect and now I can't access my router via the app or online. (Made a separate post about this issue.) Is this one of the issues with the latest firmware release that I overlooked in reading the posts?

Thanks for any help or insight.

How Many Devices Can I Connect to EA8300

Greetings:

How many devices can I connect to my EA8300?  Currently I have 28 devices connected.  The information on the outside of the box says that it can connect 21+ devices.  I havn't had any problems...yet.

I have a 6 port switch connected to my EA8300 and all ports on the router and switch are connected.  Two of the ports that are connected lead to 2 bridged routers (LAN to LAN) at separate ends of my property.  I anticipate a few more devices being connected via ethernet and wirelessly to the bridge routers and I'm currious if I will be running into limitations with the EA8300 on the numer of devices it will handle.

I just purchased the EA8300 as my previous WRT1900AC stop working after approximately 4 years.  I have 14 days to return the EA8500 router to Walmart.  Should I consider a different router for my configuration?  Walmart had a EA9500 on the shelf that said it would handle 26+ devices; however, I don't necessarily need the greater wireless coverage it appears to provide.

Any information on the number of devices or suggestions is appreciated....thanks...John

EA8500 waaaaaaaaay to slow

Hi all.

I'm i Linksys fan, and trough the years had a few of them starting with WRT54G long time ago, later Linksys WRV200 after that Linksys WRVS4400N and they all died while using them as home routers mainly connected by cable to PC and occasionally some WiFi connections. Then i switched to Buffalo routers. All of them still alive and in perfect working condition btw. Last my Buffalo is WZR-1750DHP AC1750 2.4GHz & 5GHz. No problems at all but i've decided to make a little upgrade and recently bought EA8500 /firmware 1.1.9.192968/. I can't tell you how much i'm disappointed from Smart WiFI excrement of a bull. I'm using routers with 2x1Gbit LAN adapters working simultaneously (not that my internet is so fast but when 3000-4000 connections are made from the PC it seems that network is more responsive) and Smart XB works sooooo sloooooooowwwww. O.K. it look childish... i can live with that.... hardly. But WHERE the STRAWBERRY is INFO panel? What i'm supposed to do? Make captures from every panel and interface and device and then combine them trough Paint to see the whole picture? Smart XB is disaster (used MUCH harsher words but they censored me) it is bad and working unacceptably slow. But what about speeds of the EA8500? This was supposed to be an UPGRADE from Buffalo WZR-1750DHP AC1750!!!! My Internet speed is not high so both maxed up bandwidth well... EA8500 4-5% lower /on 10 run basis made arround 01:00h local time/ but let's say that this is from network congestion e.t.c.. But WiFI speeds are definitely low while using EA8500. For the test i'm using my phone connected at 5GHz (phone supports 2x2 MIMO only, but Buffalo does NOT support MIMO) distance to the router <1m. While connected trough cables to the PC EA8500 was able to reach 40MB/s which is only 10% slower than Buffalo results of 44MB/s. But when i disconnect cables and connect the PC to the router trough D-Link DWA-131 N300 Nano @ 2,4Ghz things go from bad to worse: 15/8 MB/s (down/up) trough Buffalo and 10/6,5 trough EA8500 and let's clarify: for EA8500 these are only spikes most of the time write to the smartphone is 3.5-4.2 MB/s. In reality if you compare large files transfer EA8500 times are pretty much two times bigger (meaning 2 times slower!!!).

This was supposed to be an UPGRADE!!!!

Is there any chance to fix this? Firmware update may be? These speeds are unacceptable 21-st century.

Also please can you incorporate INFO panel into Smart XB?

Port Forward: TCP Any --> 12345

I need to port foward TCP (and/or UDP) Any (port) to a specific port.  My old FIOS router and most of the older routers I have used were able to specify an NAT IP, Protocol(s), "any" external ports to internal ports().  Does the EA6400 have this option?  I see where you can specify single or multiple external ports but it does not appear to have an "Any" option.  I'm not an expert router guy.  Is 0 - 65535 the same as other routers 'Any" setting?

Also, does the router's logs show firewall blocked packets?  If so, how can I view that log?

EA 8500 WiFi signal coverage

Hi there!

Could you please comment about ea8500 5Hz signal coverage distance? It's significantly degradated just about in 10 steps out of router. Doesn't look ok.  Is that something in settings I can check to increase it? InSSider doesnt show much noise for 5Hz and by only one concurrent networks around 75-80 dB. Any suggestions? 2.4 has much much better coverage for that distance.

Thank you.

Slow Wired & Wireless Internet Speeds - EA9300

I am a DSL customer of my ISP and pay for 10 Mbps download internet access.

When I plug the DSL modem directly into my PC via a twisted-pair cable, speed-test websites report about 9.1 Mbps download speeds.

When I plug the modem into my EA9300 router and connect my PC via twisted-pair cable to the EA9300 router, the same speed-test websites report between 1.9 and 2.6 Mbps download speeds.

I have read the similar message thread for the EA9500 router and followed that thread's tips of setting the Media Prioritization to give priority to the PC, setting the router's MTU to 1500 and turning-off IPV6. However, those changes do not alter the speeds reported by the speed-test websites.

There are no other computers, TVs, or other streaming devices connected via twisted-pair when I run the performance tests. There are 2 Nest video door-bells and 10 Blink home security camers connected via WiFi during the performance tests.

What else can I do to boost the PC's internet speed while connected via the EA9300 router? Is the router starting to fail?

Thank you in advance.

Cannot access admin functions on m10 Valet after changing address to 192.168.1.2

I'm trying to modify the admin setttings in an m10 Valet to operate as  a switch, to extend my wireless coverage.  I was following instructions, the first of which said to log in to admin at 192.168.1.1, which I did.  Next, disable DHCP and change the address to 192.168.1.2, and save the changes.  When I saved the changes, I got a screen that said something like, "Changes are saved, returning to previous screen",or something similar.  The screen never reloaded or changed, so I rebooted everything.  Now, I can't access the router's admin functions using either the 192.168.1.1 or the 192.168.1.2 address.  Is there a fix for this, or am I just out of luck?

Thanks in advance,

Linksys3200WRT Setup with Verizon modem and eero mesh wifi

$

Hi all. Have some quesitons I hope the forum can help me with  I have a new network setup where my Verizon ISP serivce is via the cable modem. I kept that modem in place to cotinue to provide my TV and phone service. I then connected that modem to my Linksys 3200WRT via its WAN,  for my internet and router functions for my LAN. I then disabled the wireless function of the Linksys router and connected my eeros mesh WiFi system for whole house wifi. The eeros is connected to the the Linksys via one of the LAN ports. System works great overall.

My question is if my setup is correct. The Verizon modem is connected to the internet (WAN) with the DMZ zone enalbled (this was done by a prior network guy I had that setup my original system). Is this setup ok? Is it safe? If I disabled it what would happen??

device priorization is off

updated to latest firmware and it still fails, downgraded and it fails

i am the only one that logs in and there werent any changes since the instalation of the deviced and the failure happens on the 2.4 ghz network and the 5 ghz, enabled and tried guest wifi and everything works but not on the main ones

Linksys AC5400 Slow Speeds

Replaced a Netgear R7000 with a Netgear AC4000, I took it back due to the updated firmware glitching right out of the box, already knowing Netgear's firmware team are asleep at the wheel. I wasnt dealing with it again. Replaced that with the Linksys AC5400 later this morning. I have 1G up/down service through Smithville Digital Fiber. This morning on the Netgear AC4000, speed tests were showing an average of 829Mbps down, 780 up. This new Linksys is testing 480+/- down, 250+/- up. Do I need to tweak something? At the moment, I have the three bands seperated, Google Mini's/Lights/Echo Dot's etc on 2.4. I have 4 TV's on 5G1, and an Xbox on 5G2. Certainly there's something I can do to get my speeds up where the Netgear was this morning, both the Netgear and Linksys are/were both set close to the same...No real nannies on. Fired up the routers, went through setup, update, kept the three radios seperate, and connected my stuff...Too slow compared to the Netgear router this morning...Edited to add. Our main TV is direct ethernet corded from the router to the TV, as is our Phillips Hue. The rest of the tv's are roku sets in the kids rooms, not really much 4K streaming, just cartoons and such.

Hello

I hope somoen can help me with this topic.

I searched some time to find information if the WRT 32X is capable of wlan meshing (802.11s).

I have a three story apartment and want to set up one WRT32 in each floor.

Is the WRT32 able to mesh the WLAN together to one big WLAN for the entire house?

May the WRT3200 can?

Eventually with OpenWRT?

WRT32X Port Forwarding Settings

Hello.

I have recently switched to WRT32X from WRT1900AC. WRT32X is quite nice. However, when I was setting up port forwarding settings earlier, I had encountered several problems.

Network background:

Router IP: 10.0.0.1

Subnet: 10.0.0.0/16

1. I have a server with the IP 10.0.1.20. When I was creating a rule, the IP address was locked at 10.0.0.xxx, I could not type 10.0.1.xxx (my subnet is 255.255.0.0, and the router knows that). Is there any way I can type in addresses other than 10.0.0.xxx? As IP re-assigning for all my servers in my network seems not to be feasible.

2. The other problem is, let's say I want to forward external port 123 to internal port 234. I could not find such an option in the port forwarding rule. Did I miss something in the setting? Again, port re-assigning for all my servers is not preferable.

I found the new UI is not quite user-friendly. Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

Stephanie M.

Any tips on how to fix this? The power supply is high-quality, new, and has the right specs. And firmware is up to date.

EA6100 parental controls not working and unexpected 2118 error

My EA6100 router parental controls are not working.  I've done multiple tests on devices tyring to block specific websites such as facebook.com and youtube.com and these sites are not blocked.  Also, each time Iog into my router I get and "unexpected 2118  error".  The router has the latest firmware.  Does this mean my router needs to be replaced?  Looking for ideas on how to fix this.

If i reset my router to factory settings, does that mean that all devices on my network will need to be reconnected?

OpenVPN server must be updated : security risk !

Router: WRT1200ACv2

firmware version: 2.0.6.191786

When I connect with openvpn, I got the following messsage:

  1. WARNING: --ns-cert-type is DEPRECATED.  Use --remote-cert-tls instead
  2. WARNING: INSECURE cipher with block size less than 128 bit (64 bit).  This allows attacks like SWEET32.  Mitigate by using a --cipher with a larger block size (e.g. AES-256-CBC)
  3. WARNING: cipher with small block size in use, reducing reneg-bytes to 64MB to mitigate SWEET32 attacks.

This is far from today standar in vpn and create a security risk for the users.

This issue as been reported on onther devices (WRT1900, WRT3200...)  and no response has been given since one year or so.

This is an echo to the recent study on firmware securty update policy (https://securityledger.com/2019/08/huge-survey-of-firmware-finds-no-security-gains-in-15-years/).

Please solve this issue.

Hello,

I have a Linksys WAG54G2 router and I want to limit the internet speed for the people connected on the network to 5Mbps so that the internet won't be slow when the connected people start downloads or so. I tried to search but unfortunately there wasn't a specific option for my router and I couldn't see a second radio-button in QoS

Here is a picture of what I have in QoS page:

Thanks!

LINKSYS EA9300 - can I run an isolated 5.0Ghz network

$

I have disabled the Band Steering, and would like one of the 5.0 Ghz networks to be isloated from the 2.4 and other 5.0 similar to what is done for the Guest Network  I configured the 2nd 5.0Ghz with a different SSID and password, but it appears that devices connecting to that are not isolated from the rest.

Anyway to do this?

Thanks

Mary
