I know there are already multiple threads in the Community regarding the issues with the latest firmware, but my issues seem to be slightly different. My internet speed over the last 8 or so months, slowly crept to a crawl. Never had an issue with Linksys products before, other than a router going bad or needing to upgrade for better connection speeds. Finally came across the issues in the forum (forever grateful to everyone who posted solutions and recommendations) about the latest firmware update.
Through trying the suggestions given, nothing seemed to work. If I reset my router and then rolled it back to the previous version, my 5GHz would not do the 80MHz, even though it stated it was in the online software. (I have a Mac and through wifi scan it showed only at 20MHz.) Wifi speed would not go above 23Mbps down and got 23Mbps up 2.4GHz or 5GHz. (Through my isp I have 400Mbps download speed.) Used Speedtest.net and Fast.com for testing on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. My Mac is a desktop and is connected via ethernet, but also has wifi capabilities, so I have checked both ways. Direct connect I got consistantly over 400Mpbs which was great. When checking via wifi with my Mac, iPhone or iPad, I was within 4' of the router. TV consistently dropped out. Could stream maybe one show on my tv and then wouldn't reconnect for a couple of hours at best. iPad could stream just fine.
If I use the latest rev of the firmware, everything works as it should... maybe. I get connected speeds of 400Mbps - 650Mbps up. Wifi I consistently get over 250Mpbs down and over 20Mpbs up on 5GHz and 25Mpbs or more down and 20Mbps or more up on 2.4GHz. And the 5GHz does change to 80GHz and can be seen via wifi scan.
This morning my internet locked up, for lack of a better term. It was working great for a whole day. Once I unplugged it and plugged it back in again this morning, it has been working fine. But now I cannot access Smartwifi via the cloud or the app.
Sorry to be so lengthy...
The quirks -
Why is it if I rollback to the previous version, can the 5GHz not change to 80MHz even though it says it is?
After resetting my router a second time, I can no longer rollback to the previous version even via download. States the file may be corrupt. I even reset my router a second time so I could try to install the last version, still no luck.
Today I had to unplug my router because it wouldn't connect and now I can't access my router via the app or online. (Made a separate post about this issue.) Is this one of the issues with the latest firmware release that I overlooked in reading the posts?
Thanks for any help or insight.
