Port forwarding works on port 8080 but not on 80

My domain is registered with Netfirm. My "A Record" is set as

MyDomain.com points to 123.12.45.45 which is my IP address assigned by my ISP. Behind modem I have Linksys router that assigns internal IP to all my devices. I have port 80 open on my router but when I try to access my site from outside network connection attempt times out.

When I open port 8080 on my router and try to access MyDomain.com:8080 from outside network I have no problems.

My assumption is that ISP is blocking somehow port 80. Is it possible that router is blocking port 80? Can someone try to give opinion on this please.

WRT54GS resetting itself

This has happened 4 or 5 times over the last few months now.  I'll try to use one of my wireless devices only to discover that I'm no longer connected to the network, and when I go to connect, I then discover that my network name has been reset to 'linksys' and there is no security at all active.  As far as I can see, everything is reset to factory default and my network is open for anyone to use.

Because I mainly use my PC (cabled to the router) at home and don't really use wireless devices that much, I don't notice exactly when this happens but I suspect my network has been unsecured for several days at a time when this happens.

Has anyone else had this happen?  My firmware is 7.50.0 which, as far as I can tell, is the latest available, so I'm at a loss for what to do about this other than buy a new router.  Any ideas?

Parental Control issue with EA6350, Unexpected Error 2178

So, I've had this ES6350 router connected to my cable modem for a few months now, and overall I'm happy with it. We're a very busy and tech family (many mobile devices, laptops, desktops, connected devices, etc).

I found that as time progressed, I started seeing multiple references to the same device hardware name in the Devices list, and in the Parental Controls list.

My actual issue is that as I attempted to update the Parental Controls (change times for one of the devices) and when I click OK, I see this error:

Unexpected Error
2178

We've encountered an unexpected error. If the issue continues, please visit our Technical Support site.

/jnap/parentalcontrol/SetParentalControlSettings -- Status: 200 OK Date: Sun, 21 Feb 2016 01:09:09 GMT Server: lighttpd/1.4.34 Connection: close Content-Length: 38 Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8

The firmware is:1.0.4.164719

My current solution was to open the Devices list, remove all offline devices (which included two additional duplicates of the desired online device to manage). Once the device list is cleaned up, I was then able to see the correct references in the Parental Controls list, select the correct device, update the times, and successfully save the changes.

I have this older router. It has the DD-WRT software on it. We just moved unpacked and I hooked it up and all I get is a flashing power light. It is a slow blink. I can still ping this router but it wont boot. I got a new one Linksys EA 6350. I would like to know if this thing can still be revived. Its like saying goodbye to an old friend. I would even to willing to pay a small fee.

Any tips to make 5ghz useful and reliable?

Hi I just moved into a flat that already had all this set up.

Upstairs in my room the Wifi alone was slow as expected and then i saw that they had a linksys plw400 to boost it. If i plug it in with the ethernet cable up here it works much better yet when i try to connect to it in the other way as a wireless thing it tells me that 'connection failed' i have typed the device password in a number of times and still the same message. Any help?!

WRT54GH failed access after reset

Hi All!

Have my linksys router for quite some time, and always worked well, but recently bought a new computer Windows 8.1 and now started to have unwanted wireless connection losses.

Since i did not upgrade the firmware of the router, it was not really needed sofar, i decided to try to update the firmware and see if this did resolve the issue

When i tried to login in the router i was more or less surprised that this failed, it always worked?....

So after several attempts i did a reset, and assumed this would solve the login problem because of the factory settings. But sadly i can't login anymore...i've tried all kind of cominations,  username blank -  password admin, username admin - password admin, username blank - password blank, combinations with admin - 1234 and so on...but still i can't login and start using my wireless(wired works ok)  Smiley Sad

I also did an extra reset, but this did not help either.

I've searched around, but can't find this issue, because normally after a reset it's easy to login into the device, but not this time.

So, i hope somebody here has the solution for this, and can help me out....

WRT1900AC and WRT1900ACS front panel LED brightness adjustment

$

Hi, I have both wireless routers listed in the subject field. In the past, with the WRT1900AC, I was able to adjust the front panel LED brightness through the firmware. Is this option no longer supported? When I made the LED brightness adjustment I also had a WRT4008 eight port switch attached to the WRT1900AC and it adjusted the LED brightness for both devices. I've now updated my wireless router to the WRT1900ACS and it is in bright LED mode while the WRT4008 switch is in dim LED mode. I'd like to either reset the LED brightness on the WRT4008 back to full brightness or adjust the LED brightness on the WRT1900ACS to dim. Any suggestions?

EA3500 downstream slowness, fixed with classic firmware!

i've been experiencing terrible connectivity issues for the last few months, and was quietly grumbling to myself about Comcast, and generally made do by using my cell phone's LTE connection. i did some cursory debugging, reset to factory settings, made sure the router's firmware was up to date, etc. but never really got anywhere.

it got so ridiculous lately that i started to doubt if Comcast could actually be providing service this bad. i tried connecting my PC directly to the cable modem and voila! instant speed boost! my speedtest.net measurements went from 3mbps down/5mbps up to 80mbps down/5mbps up.

i spend the last two days researching this problem and trying various solutions, like disabling QoS, WMM, decreasing mtu, etc. even tried disabling the SPI firewalls to minimize load on the router's CPU. nothing. switching to a direct modem connection was always an order of magnitude faster than through the router.

i found some forum posts talking about the classic firmware. i've always found the smartwifi firmware to unresponsive, unintuitively laid out, and generally unpleasant to use, so in a last ditch effort i downgraded to the classic firmware. HOLY **bleep**! finally i can get the same speedtest results with the router as without it. browsing the internet no longer feels like i'm on a dialup connection from the 90s! hallelujah!

so i'm posting this to help others in the same boat, and also to register myself as yet another person unhappy with the smartwifi firmware.

can't connect wes610n to browser configuration

I have a Linksys EA6500 router. I have two WES610N wireless to wired access points connnected. I can open one of the WES610N to the browwer using it's IP address listed in my Smart WiFI EA6500 browser utility. But the second one shows up in the list as a LAN connection which it isn't. The IP address listed for the second WES610N does not work when It enter it in my browser. BUT, this second WES610N does stream through wirelessly to my wired Blu-Ray player.

Any ideas?

Windows Remote Desktops between Dual Band frequencies?

$

I've been using remote desktop and then I got a WRT1900AC which has dual band. I didn't want to manage seperate networks so i named the SSIDs the same with same passwords figuring I'd let my devices chose which ever network offered the fastest speed. I discovered that my desktop doesn't support the 5GHz frequency but all my other devices (laptop) do. When I attempt to remote desktop to the desktop from a laptop, it fails. If I rename the 5GHz to something else so all my devices are on the 2.4GHz remote desktop works.

So I suspect that it's something about networking theory/protocol about one devices from the 2.4 network being able to communicate to the 5 network. Is there a way to bridge these networks so all devices can see each other and remote desktop will work? Or am I going to be stuck at having to get a new wireless card for my desktop so it can join the 5GHz network?

E1200 - wired internet working; but until reset, wireless internet drops and cannot see admin

I recently (very recently) purchased a E1200. I have hardware version 2 and the latest firmware.

Connected to the E1200 are a few wired connections, a printer and a DAP-1320  wireless range extender.

Intermittently, the wireless internet will stop working.

I believe this is a problem with the router because when I attempt to log in to the router when these connection problems are being encountered, I cannot: 192.168.1.1 does not connect, and when I open Linksys Connect, the screen sits in it's "loading" state. Then, when I reset the router, everything begins functioning as it should.

WRT 1900ac Block HTTPS Sites

$

Using Linksys WRT1900ac running 1.1.10.167514, is it possible to block HTTPS sites such as HTTPS://www.facebook or HTTPS://www.youtube? Obviously, HTTP is blocked such as HTTP://www.facebook but I would like to block HTTPS sites.  I am finding out that my teenagers are getting around the router by using HTTPS.  I understand I could use OpenDNS but spending over $200 dollars on this router should give me the ability to block any site I choose.

If I can't with this particular router, is there ANY other Linksys routers on the market today, that will provide me with the ability to block HTTPS sites?

1900 acs bandwidth indicator light?

$

I just installed a wrt 1900. It displays two bars for power and internet connection, followed by the wifi indicator light.  The wifi indicator alternates between solid and vibrating.  Do these lights indicate when bandwidth is being used? Technical support told me that the internet bar flashes when bandwidth is used, but I have viewed a couple of videos and the bar stays solid.  The wifi indicator vibrating does not seem to be related to band useage either.

Does the display offer a way to tell when bandwidth is used?  Thanks

You guys gonna fix this router or no?

I need to know whether or not I need to pick up a new router (non-linksys/belkin of course) while I'm out...

Command Line Reset Newer Linksys Routers

I found a way to reset my cable modem via a PowerShell by issuing an invoke-webrequest.  Is there a way to reset an EA8500 router via comand line?  I have not been able to find out what URL is used to access the modems reset function.  I assume you would have to pass credentials too.

EA7500 in alternate operation modes

$

Hello,

I am new to Linksys routers.  I have a EA7500 and am trying to use it in an alternate mode to complement my main high end router.  I currently have no MU-MIMO devices to take advantage of the main feature of the EA7500.

The problem is when I attempt to use the alternate operation modes, the configuration options and abilities are almost all gone.

Bridged mode seems to be Access Point, haven't tried it.

Wired Bridge, seems to sort of act like a Wireless Bridge, not sure what this is suppose to be exactly, does not function like other Bridges I have used.  it wants one of the two bands to be a dedicated connection to the main router, then it allows the other band to accept wireless connections.  It seems to allowed wired clients just fine, but there is no using the USB ports, and I can't see any information on general things, like what is connected to the Wired Bridge, whether wired or wireless.

Wireless Repeater, acts like an extender, I am assuming the throughput is halved from the router, like usual.  It  wants one band to be assigned to talk to the main router, but allows wireless clients on both bands.  The functionality is very limited like in Wired Bridge mode.  Seems to accept wired clients just fine, but there is no using the USB ports, and I can't see any information on general things, like what is connected to the Wireless Repeater, whether wired or wireless.

The manual doesn't seem to have any information on these alternate modes.

So my main questions is why is there no using USB storage options in the Wireless Repeater or Wired Bridge modes?

And also why can't I determine what is connecting to my EA7500 when in Wired Bridge or Wireless Repeater modes?

Thank you for any help for this Linksys newbie.
