Hi All,192.168.2.1

I have a project I have been working on, its fairly simple, but has become a problem. Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated.

Scenario = Classroom enviroment. One WRT310N Router (Config as follows) Static Internet addres 192.168.2.52 Subnet Triple 255Gateway192.168.2.1DNS 192.168.2.1Router Address 172.16.2.2Gateway172.16.2.1 DNS172.16.2.1. DHCP Range 100-200

This router is connected to a Win 7 PC and is also connected to the school network.

The win 7 pc has a address of 172.16.2.20 Gateway of 172.16.2.1 .

We have 2 VmWare machines running on this win7 host, 1 has a Linux server running with a LMS on it. It has a address of 172.16.2.2Gateway172.16.2.1.

The other VmWare machine has Windows server 2012 running on it. It has a address of 172.16.2.3 Gateway 172.16.2.1

The goal is to be able to type the Linux server address in the browser and the LMS site come up. Also be able to VPN into the Server 2012 machine. This is using the win 7 machine next to us on the 192.168.2.x network.

I have the Linux server 172.16.2.2 Port Forward with External annd Internal port 80 Enabled

I have the Server 2012 172.16.2.3 Port Forward with External and Internal port 1723 Enabled

The PPTP Passthrough is Enabled

I can ping the 192.168 network from the win 7 host , the linux server and server 2012 all on the 172.16 network. I cant ping the 172.16 network from the 192.168 PC.

I get the error 800 when I setp VPN on the 192.168 win 7 to the 172.16 server 2012

I get the connection timed out when I type the Linux server address of 172.16.2.2 into the 192.168 win 7 pc browser

According to the WRT310N manual and multiple websites, everything shows I have everyhting configued correctly. I have hit a brick wall banging my head.. Any ideas will help greatly.

Thank You!

E1500 login at 192.168.1.1 and WPA2 security passwords

I have the Linksys E1500 that I got as a gift a while ago, but never got around to installing it until this morning.

Anyway, I had a WRT54G installed prior to this and the password I used to gain access to the web based setup (192.168.1.1) was one phrase and I have that unit set up for WPA2Personal and it had a different WPA Shared Key.  However, when I went to change the paraphrase for the WPA security on this rounter and then later tried accessing the web based setup at 192.168.1.1 the password to gain access had changed to the paraphrase that I used for the WPA security.  Why is that?  How do I set it up so that there is one password for logging into the site and a different one for the security code.  I know I must be missing something here, but cannot figure out what that is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so unfortunately I don't have home broadband and i'm using a Huawei e5251 dongle,  is it possible to connect it to my wrt1900ac and then have that do all the routing/networking so I can remain connected to the internet but while still on my home network?

thanks, Lee

X3500 guest access VS full access

I have X3500 wireless router. I wish configure "MAC address filter" working only on "main wifi access". Guest access should remain free from "MAC address filter". When I switch "MAC address filter" ON in browser-based utility (192.168.1.1), however, it works on all wifi accesses so that no one guest can have access.

I wish realize something like a DMZ protected only by a guest password and all the remain network mast be full protected by MAC address filter.

How can I set "MAC address filter" to do that?

Parental Controls Unexpected error 2112

The EA6900 (AC1900) router will not access the Parental Controls.  When I try to select it, it gives me an error 2112.  I have already tried the following:

Restart the router

Restart the modem, and the router.

(using the app on my phone, get same error)

uninstall and reinstall the app on my phone,

log out, log in again

Log in using the computer.

In all these cases, I am unable to access the Parental controls.

I tried the customer support chat, but they want to charge me to fix a problem with the system.  I have done a little research, and it appears this problem is common.

What should I do to fix this?  I bought a system with significant upgrades so I could have some control over the users in my house.

EA3500 not detected during setup

I got a linksys n750 smart wifi router(EA3500) to use with a scientific atlanta cable modem. Originally I had tried to set it up on my girlfriends laptop but because setup REQUIRES wifi, it failed. (the wifi on that laptop is faulty.) It got up to 85% completed including having set up the SSID and passwords. but failed to set up the internet connection. So I tried to set it up with my laptop instead. I unplugged both the modem and router for more than 5 minutes each and then began the setup. It reached 25% and then claimed to not be able to detect a linksys router. However, I checked my taskbar and it said I was connected to the router under the SSID i had set up previously. So I tried the "I have set up my router and want to connect to it" option, I entered the SSID and PW  but it still could not connect. I used the reset button on the router to hopefully restore it to factory defaults. Now when I try setup it doesnt have the SSID tthat had previously been set( the router is now identified as "Cisco 00259" or something like that) but it still fails at 25%. It still says it can't detect a linksys router. What is going on. I know the Wifi works on this laptop. I have cycled the modem and router enough times to be sure that is not the problem. How do I get past this?

Hello

so here is my problem i have 2 devices coming up on my network map listed as Network Device (which look like hard drives) however i am unaware of what the devices are.  I ran the mac addresses listed in the Network map through google.com and both devices have different manufacturers, one is Microsoft the other is Azurewave Technologies, Inc..  I'm just trying to figure out what these devices are, so i can either block them or tag them properly as i can't figure out what they are.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

cascading WRT1900AC into an upstream router but cannot disable WRT1900AC's NAT

My WRT1900AC firmware version is 1.1.8.164461

I've been trying to get my WRT1900AC to cascade into an upstream router without double NAT, but even when I select "Dynamic Routing (RIP)" the WRT1900AC is still doing NAT. Is there a way to DISABLE NAT on the WRT1900AC?

My configuration is:

Computers->WRT1900AC->SecureRouter->CableModem

The SecureRouter is a wired-only security appliance that provides an additional layer of protection. I have it configured with a DHCP server (192.168.55.1/24), and two static routes that should permit the WRT1900AC regular traffic (192.168.1.1/24) and guest traffic (192.168.33.1/24) that redirect traffic to 192.168.55.10, which is the IP address the WRT1900AC gets assigned by SecureRouter (using DHCP Reservation and the WRT1900AC MAC address).

But, then I look at the logs in SecureRouter, and all the traffic is originating at 192.168.55.10. I don't want that because one of the features of SecureRouter is to detect DDOS if a client makes too many calls to a DNS server within a certain time range. Even though I've upped this limit, SecureRouter should really be getting the client IP addresses as they were originally assigned by the WRT1900AC to avoid this and allow me to track down a rogue system.

Researching the problem here in the forum directed me to:

http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm

and the solution they propose is to put the second router (ie, WRT1900AC) into the DMZ of the first (SecureRouter). But, I don't think I really want my entire network to be in the DMZ. I'm sure I lose some protection, but I'm not sure what. Maybe I'm overreacting.

Both the WRT1900AC and SecureRouter give me great statistics and pictures of what's going on in the network. I would prefer not to "bridge" (is that possible?) if it meant losing the picture/logs/graphs/tables either of these devices produce.

Can someone out there figure out how I can have my cake and eat it too? Would this work with an E3000 instead of a WRT1900AC? (assuming the E3000 really can disable NAT).

e1200 wifi issues on mobile devices

I recently purchased a motorola surfboard sb6121, upgrading from my old motorola with docsis 2.0 and a max speed of 30mbps. I still have an e1200 router and the internet on mostly everything else is fast, but on our mobile devices the speed is downright sluggish. It is very slow to load anything. I have played with numerous settings on the router, upgraded the firmware to 2.0.7 v2 and still have not seen any improvement. Does anyone have any suggestions?

EA6500 Parental Control - no access after 24hrs

Hello Forum

I have a EA6500 unit that is loaded with Ver.1.1.29 (Build 162351) firmware.

I have seen allots of messages on this site where people are having issues with getting the parental control to work reliably.

I am not sure if this is simply a firmware issue that I am dealing with and or if there is anything else I can do.

My dilemma is I can set the time limits for the device I want to control lets say 8am - 5pm (allow internet access).

Once this is set, I save it and also perform a router reboot.

The device that I am controling works correctly up to 8am the following day.

The router seems to not allow access back to the unit I would like to control..  Any ideas why this is happening.

** the controlled devices are using DHCP with no static addresses.  There is also no reservation in the DHCP table.

EA6900 only connecting to laptops at AC433Mbps and N144Mbps

I am trying to get the EA6900 router to connect with 1st laptop at atleast AC867Mbps and 2nd laptop at atleast N300Mbps.  The laptops have i7 processors, dual antennas, and capable cards.  1st laptop connects at max AC433Mbps and 2nd laptop at max N144Mbps.  No problem with the actual download speeds at all - 110Mbps in from Comcast and 110Mbps received at laptops.  Just trying to connect up at AC867Mbps and at N300Mbps since the router is capable of transmitting at AC1300Mbps and N600Mbps.  Router is not set on priority devices, router is set with WPA2, computers are within 10 feet of router. I have adjusted router to just transmit at 5G for AC only. I have adjusted router to just transmit 2.4 for N only.  Still no quicker connections. Any suggestions?  Thank You, Steve D.

Can't connect through router

I've had the same setup for two years, and everything was functioning fine until two days ago, but now I can't establish a wi-fi connection to a laptop or a connection to a desktop through a WRT54G router. I can connect to the network on the laptop, but a red X appears between the router and the internet icons in Network Sharing. When I open a browser on the desktop I receive "Server not found". A direct ethernet cable connection from the modem to both computers works fine.

I have power cycled all devices, I have reset the modem and the router, and I have tried different cables. I have also tried a second WRT54G router, but the same thing happens. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

how can i make this secured? there is a password attached. i can connect using password. if i don't use password, then limited access (whatever that means), but it shows in available networks list as unsecured.

I have wrt1900ac wired connected to linksys4200 router. WRT1900 is set up as a main router (first). Please note 2nd router is connected to the first one. And I can easly connect to internet using linksys4200 wired of wifi access.

All works great except 2 things.

1. On WRT1900ac Network Map linksys4200 is shaded (without IP address assigned).

See photo below.

network_map.JPG

2. Current time on 2 router linsksys 4200 is unavailable.

See photo below.

Is that way should be or I something is not setup correctly?

DHCP on linksys4200 is turned off.

EA6500 (v1) Constantly Reboots with Newest Firmware (1.1.29)

$

The latest available firmware Ver.1.1.29 (Build 162351) for my EA6500 (v1) is highly unstable, and I've had to roll back to 1.1.28 (Build 146072).

This happens when either the wireless network bands are enabled. The router will work for 5-10 minutes (sometimes even shorter) and just randomly reboot.

When the wireless networks are disabled, it's pretty rock solid.

Rolling back to 1.1.28 fixes this issue, so at least I can have functioning wireless networks.

It would still be nice to be able to use the latest and greatest however. Particularly since I'd be able to access the router configuration using my tablet, and IE11.

Has anyone seen a similar behavior? If so, any tips?

Thanks,

CFC

WRT54G wireless keeps connecting and disconnecting

I have a WRT54G and recently have been having issues with the wireless.  About a month ago any device connected wirelessly would constantly connect then disconnect.  It didnt matter if I was standing next to the router or in a different room it behaved the same.  I could reset the router and it would fix the issue for a few days.

I have updated the firmware to v4.21.5

My main computer (which I'm on now) is connected with an ethernet cable and has no problems; I've connected directly to the modem also with an ethernet cable with no problems.  It only appears to be an issue with the wireless.

I have tried different security settings and passwords with to avail.
