Hi
This one has Comcast Business Class support and Residential Support baffled. I am running a Motorola Surfboard SB5101U cable modem and a Linksys WRT54G-TM wireless router. This setup drives my home wireless network and is usually very robust. Normal G speed connections to the internet with multiple devices and multiple WIFI phones that connect and work well.
Recently, I was asked to connect to a clients server located in another state. Using a cabled connection from the modem to the laptop works fine, but wireless connections won't work. Using cabled connections through the wirelss router do not work either.
I asked my cleint for the Port ID of the server for his incoming traffic. He uses Comcast Business Class service. Using Port Forwarding on the WRT54G, I mapped that port to the IP address of the laptop. No joy. (Thank you Comcast for sucking $79.95 out of my wallet for nothing). I have diabled the wireless firewall and that didn't help either.
Another clue - when I take my laptop to a local Panera and connect to their WIFI, I can reach my clients remote server no problem. For referfnece, this Panera uses Verizon Business as their ISP (maybe they all do).
I have eliminated pretty much everything except the wireless router as a problem. Any ideas?
Thanks
Chris
