My setup works like this...
The router does not use the WAN/Internet port. I have one of the LAN ports connected to my (via a switch) firewall, which connects to the cable modem.
So the IP address of the wireless router is 192.168.168.1, whereas the internal IP of the firewall is 192.168.168.6. I know that that is kinda backwards, but there you go. Most of the stuff on my home network uses static IPs except for devices that cannot.
Well I was configuring a new laptop, it defaulted to DHCP, which the linksys dishes out. The laptop couldn't get out to the internet. I looked and it was being served (via DHCP) a default Gateway of 192.168.168.1, which explains why it couldn't reach the internet. It also explains the problems I've been having with my Chromecast.
So ultimately I want the DHCP configuration to dish out 192.168.168.6 as the gateway addr and I don't see any way to do it. I had no problems doing this w/ my old netgear...
Anyone know how I can get this thing to give out the address that *I* want it to give out for the gateway????
Thanks!
