I was planning on 'upgrading' from an E3000 to the EA6900. I basically, disconnected one ad connnected the other to my VZ FIOS router (with wireless off). I've made almost no changes from default other than:
Set to "N-only" on both 2.4 and 5G radios (currently have no "AC" capable clients)
Set Ch width to "40Mhz" on 5G
I've performed basic ping tests from my Mac laptop to both EA6900 and FIOS rtr as well as www.bing.com and www.speedtest.net
Also ran speed test to www.speedtest.net (ensuring same server and browser (Chrome)). I've done (4) rounds of testing so far (both 2.4/5G radios across both EA6900 and E3000).
So far I notice no 'significant' performance increase that would warrant my keeping the EA6900.
Planing on calling in to Tech Support for 'advice' on how to improve performance and also have to test 'Netflix' performance over wifi to a Panasonic BR player
Any feedback from similar experience?
Side rant: Can't find a way to see network info related to FIOS rtr (ie, I expect to be able to verify what the 'gateway' IP addr is and what IP addr the FIOS rtr assigned the EA690) WTH?
