Hi Everyone,
I was recently helped with a problem with the EA3500 router, and it turns out I needed to create separate names for the 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz networks. This helped some, and thank you for that.
Now, the 5 ghz channel works great. We're capped about 30mbps speed from comcast, and when I do a speed test on my phone throughout the house, I get a consistent ~20-27 mbps via the 5 ghz network. Goes to 8 mbps in the furthest reaches of the house, but still a strong, reliable signal.
We're still having issues with the 2.4 ghz channel, and since our electronics are a little older, this is a problem. I have it set to channel 11 (tried other channels as well), and regulated to 20 mhz. Generally, the wifi signal looks strong on the devices, but the internet speed is all over the place. When I'm connected to 2.4 ghz, I get 15-17 when I'm next to the router. If I go one floor above, I get 0.38 - 5 mbps. When I'm in the living room (the same place where I get 20 mbps with the 5ghz), I get about 4-5 mbps.
Is there a way I can make the internet coming through more reliable on the 2.4 ghz channel? I should note that I have an RE1000 extender that doesn't seem to do much. On the RE1000, do I need to set it to the same channel and mhz? If so, how can I do that?
Any thoughts on how to get reliable internet on what seems to be a strong wireless signal would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Johnny
