I've had my WRT1900AC for about six months now. The first two were perfect with no issues, until I started getting dropped from my wireless on either band on any device. Attempting to reconnect would give me an unable to connect error, or possibly connect but either never get an IP or not actually transmit packets to and from the box. This could be temporarily fixed by rebooting the box. The issue just became more and more frequent until the wireless would drop just about every hour. Mind you, the wired connections work perfectly fine and show no signs of degredation. Here are the things that I've tried:
- Disabling one band at a time (leaving 2.4 running while 5 is off, and vice versa)
- Did a wireless survey to find the best channels to use, the top three channels for each band made no significant improvement
- Set 2.4 to 20 Mhz and 5 to 40 Mhz only
- Factory reset, lots of times
- Obviously running the latest firmware
- Even tried running OpenWRT to see if the Linksys firmware was the issue, that did not work either
After all of this, I went ahead and got a replacement from Linksys. The replacement came yesterday, I configured it and just about 24 hours later the same issue happened again. I am in an apartment complex with about a dozen other networks within range (both 2.4 and 5 Ghz), but the channels aren't crazy over populated.
If anyone has any insight on this, or any other suggestions on things to try, I'd love to hear and test them out. Thanks!
