Hello All,
Just want to see if there is any help that can be provided on the speed that I receive over wireless with the EA4500 router that I have. I am currently running Classic Firmware v2.0.37.131047. I just upgraded to Comcast Blast with an advertised speed of 105M downstream service. Here are the speeds I am getting in various scenarios:
Laptop connected directly to Comcast Modem: 125Mbps
Laptop connected through Cat5 Cable to Port on EA4500: 120Mbps
Laptop Wirelessly connected to EA4500 2.4GHz network: Speed ranges from 26Mbps to 40Mbps
IPad wirelessly connected to EA4500 5.0GHz network: Speed ranges from 26Mbps to 38Mbps
The Laptop is a work provided Dell with a 1504 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz) wireless Card. I have the following settings modified on the EA4500
MTU: Auto
Wireless Settings:
5GHz
Network Mode: Mixed
Network Name: Different than 2.4GHz SSID
Security Mode: WPA2 Personal
Security Passphrase identified
Channel WIdth: 40 Mhz only
Channel: 40
Broadcasting SSID
2.4GHz
Network Mode: Wireless N Only
Network Name: Different than 5.0GHz SSID
Security Mode: WPA2 Personal
Security Passphrase identified (same as 5.0Ghz Passphrase)
Channel WIdth: Auto
Channel: 6 (run inSSIDer and this is the least busy area around. Only my wireless printer and a very weak neighbors wireless signal)
Broadcasting SSID
No matter what I change the speed usually decreases for both the 2.4 and 5.0 range.
I'm no professional and just find my information all over the place, but am I expecting too much to speed test wireless close to my 105M speed tier?
