I have a new WRT1900AC, RE1000 Range Extender and two RE4000W Range Extenders all working together to try and cover my house, which is long and narrow. These all replace an e2000 router with the RE1000 extender that I had previously. What I am finding is that my range is really no better. At the far end of my house, my signal strength appears as very good, but I get buffering of video, which is what I had previously. In other words, no improvement.
In addition, my Internet connection keeps dropping on various devices. I notice Apple devices (MacBook and iPhone5s) seem to have some problems keeping a connection, and I have used the Network Setup Wizard at least 3 times reconnecting my Internet connection on my Directv satellite box. This is after several calls to Linksys Tech Support where I changed channels and other settings.
I notice when using WiFi Analyzer that I see several SSIDs for my network. Like each device is sending out a separate signal for the same SSID. As I walk past one device the signal strength changes, even though it is the same network. It looks like I see the signal from the router, RE1000, and RE4000W as separatel signals.
My questions are: Are all my Linksys devices compatible? (WRT1900AC, RE1000, and RE4000W)
Shouldn't I just see a single network - well, actually 2 networks, my 2.4 GHz and 5GHz? I see multiple signals of my 2.4GHz network using my WiFi Analyzer. My phone allows me to connect to different 2.4GHz signals, even though my router is set up as a single SSID. This does not seem correct to me?
