My ISP is Comcast. When I direct wire from the modem to a PC I get 30mbs download. When I connect the modem to the router and then the router to the same PC the speed drops to about 7.5 mps. My wireless devices will vary with the best peformance coming in at about 12.5 mps and the lowest at about 3. One of those wireless devices i was also able to test hard wired and it got 30 mps
This router is farily new so I still have my old router which is an E1550. I only tested my fastest laptop and my one hardwired PC with this router but the results were the same as with the WRT on those two devices (7.5 for the hardwired and about 12.5 for the wireless)
I have tried speedtest.net as well as the speedtest in the router. Results are the same
I have swapped out all cables. The E1550 has the latest firmware and was factory reset after installing the new firmware. The WRT has the latest firmware. I am using WPA2/WPA Mixed Personal for wireless (I am not 100% sure what I had on the E1550 but I beleive the same).
Any ideas? It seems really odd that both routers would end up restricting the signal by so much
