EA6900 connection issues..

After having the freebie router that our ISP provided in operation for five years, we decided it was time to upgrade. We chose the EA6900 due to the large amount of online gaming and streaming we do. In our old router, we had four cords - the broadband in cord, the power cord, and two Ethernet cords. I don't know where the Ethernet cords go because the whole house is linked through technology and they probably run somewhere.. So I plugged the same cords into the new router - the broadband in cord into the yellow slot, the two Ethernet cables into the blue slot and the power cord into a PowerPoint. However, when I was doing the Smart Setup, I got the message saying the internet cord wasn't connected (with the four steps). I had a look at the back of the modem and the LEDs near the Ethernet cords are on but for some reason the internet cord isn't lit up. I don't know what the reason is because the cord works with the other router... The internet cord head is smaller than the Ethernet cables however, I don't know if it is meant to be like this.

So what's going on?
Thanks in advance for the help.
