My previous router that was just replaced is the Linksys E4200 v1. I bought it brand new in March 2011. I only replaced it because of age. I figured about 3 1/2 years was long enough. Loved that router and imo. It was the last and best router Cisco/Linksys ever made under the Cisco name. Consumer level wise. 3rd party firmware was also a blast. I used Tomato with it. Now onto the WRT1900AC. Setup. Easy as pie. I skipped the Smart Wifi and went straight to the local settings and setup. I checked for a firmware update first thing out of the box and let the router do its thing. Then I configured. I was up in minutes and configuring my settings to how I wanted them.

What led me to this router was the glowing reviews. I read from all over. Majority was positive from owners. Some complaints though as always with a new product. Bare bones firmware and random reboots. Even when making a change in the router can cause what some call a "delayed" reboot. Poking around in the Network map can apparently cause this as well. Personally. I have had none of these issues. Its been chugging along every since with out a peep. Some blame the firmware. Some blame the hardware. I personally think they are faulty units. Just a guess. I have seen some say these "delayed" reboots simply by making a change are expected. Do to a bug or it being normal.

I doubt that because mine has never done a ghost reboot once or had a delayed reboot when making a change. Maybe Smart Wifi can also be causing issues for some people. Maybe try setting up locally. Overall. I am extremely pleased with this router. It is simply a beast and very simple to setup. Very easy to use as well. Uptime and wireless settings as of now. Uptime would be longer if I did not make changes and had to unplug things to move around during setup/install during that time. Also for my devices I might mention. I have set them all up using DHCP Reservations. Important. As devices that release/renew for ip's with dynamic DHCP turned on can cause them to disconnect and reconnect some times.

Now I do have a nitpick. I think the bandwidth meter is a complete joke and useless for this router. Linksys really needs to step it up and improve it big time.
