I heard that VLAN isn't supported on the EA6500. I need this to completely get rid of the Sagemcom modem/router I have with my Bell Fibe 50/50 Internet plan. Because oI can't enable VLAN tagging to 35, I must plug the EA6500 into one of the Sagemcom LAN port instead of directly into the ONT, then I have to setup a PPPOE passthrough. It does work though but I would appreciate maybe optimizing a little bit more the speeds.
Is there any solution for me? Firmware upgrade maybe? I heard DD-WRT could get the job done but is there any disadvantage? I think some people had problems with DD-WRT on this router. And I do like the Smart Wi-Fi applications on my iPhone with the default Smart Wi-Fi app and the DeviceMonitr app too. Is there any equivalent or DD-WRT if this is the only way to go?
I'm betting 8ms pings from speedtest.org server (located 250 km away in Montreal) and 52/52 Mbps out of my 50/50 plan, which is perfectly fine, but still. Getting rid of that big black box would be great.
