I live in UK and had fibre broadband installed a few days ago and thought i'd treat myself to the WRT1900AC....had no issues with my old EA6900 on ADSL2+. Anyway despite syncing at the full 80/20 meg, i never seem to get more than 40 meg on 2.4 or 5ghz wifi on the WRT1900AC - even by having my laptop next to the router i still get poor wifi speeds. But if i use an ethernet connection on my laptop instead of wifi then boom! i get the full 75 meg download speeds. But here's whats really got me puzzled....using the same radio settings on the EA6900 then i get the full 75 meg on both 2.4ghz & 5ghz bands (N and AC respectively). So does this mean that my WRT1900AC is faulty or is it just inferior to the EA6900?
FYI There's no other wifi networks in my vicinity, i live in a small-ish 2 storey detached house which has paper thin walls. I've played with all the radio settings on the WRT1900 (eg different channels, channel width, different modes) yet the WRT1900AC comes nowhere near the EA6900 for wifi speeds.
