I recently purchased the Linksys WRT1900AC router. So far, its awesome. However, I connected up my USB 3.0 external hard drive to the router and I am getting slower than expected transfer speeds. The external hard drive is a Seagate USB 3.0 STDT4000100.
When I have the hard drive connected to my USB 3.0 port on my laptop I got max of 180MB/s.
When I have the hard drive connected to the USB 3.0 port on my router (regardless if I am wireless or wired) I get a MAX of 12MB/s.
Needless to say, When I am copying 12GB files the differences is very noticable. That being said, why is my access so much slower through the router compared to direct connect? I read reviews on this router and people were stating they were getting over 100MB/s. I understand my hard drive isnt on the very small tested storage list Click Here for list, but I would expect faster speeds throught the router.
Has anyone seen/heard of this issue? What are you all seeing in regard to throughput from your laptop to storage through the router?
Thanks
Nick
